Lucid Technologies is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Product & Systems Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role is critical to strengthening our technical integration, strategic planning, and execution capabilities—ultimately driving value for Lucid Technologies, Lucid Motors, and most importantly, our customers.  

As a Senior Product & Systems Engineer, you will lead and support programs that integrate Lucid’s cutting-edge products and technologies into external customer applications across industries such as automotive, motorsport, and adjacent sectors. You will also play a key role in shaping Lucid’s product and technology roadmaps by providing technical insight and strategic evaluation of external opportunities in collaboration with our business development team.  

Our mission is to accelerate the adoption of sustainable transportation by enabling the successful deployment of Lucid’s world-class technologies into a broader range of applications.  

Notable programs to date include the end-to-end design, development, and manufacturing of high-performance motorsport battery systems and front drive units for a premier electric racing series, as well as a strategic supply partnership with Aston Martin to deliver advanced electric powertrain technologies.

Responsibilities  

  • Serve as the technical lead for customers integrating Lucid’s electric powertrain systems—including drive units, batteries, and charging systems—into customer vehicle platforms.  
  • Collaborate with business development to define Statements of Work and other techno-commercial agreements with external partners.  
  • Translate customer needs into clear product specifications and system requirements; support early-stage technical evaluations during customer engagements.  
  • Lead the hardware development process across definition, execution, and change management, working closely with internal experts, systems engineers, and customers.  
  • Act as the primary point of contact for hardware integration topics, balancing technical feasibility with commercial and contractual considerations.  
  • Represent the voice of the customer internally and serve as a technical supplier to external stakeholders.  
  • Review test plans and oversee validation against both functional and non-functional criteria.  
  • Support readiness for mass production and service phases, ensuring smooth hand-off to sustaining engineering teams.  
  • Define and implement best-in-class engineering processes and documentation standards.  
  • Proactively identify technical risks and quality issues, prioritize them, develop mitigation strategies, and drive resolution.  
  • Travel domestically and internationally as required.  

  

Qualifications  

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field.  
  • 7+ years of experience in automotive or high-performance electric powertrain systems, with a focus on system integration and product development.  
  • Strong technical knowledge of electric vehicle subsystems, including:   
    • Drive units (eMotors, inverters, gearboxes)  
    • Battery systems (HV battery packs, BMS)  
    • Charging systems (onboard chargers, DC fast charging interfaces)  
  • Proven experience in:   
    • Design release engineering, including engineering change control and project management  
    • Low-volume, specialized assembly and production environments  
    • Customer-facing engineering roles  
    • Requirements management and traceability  
    • Validation planning and execution  
    • Transitioning products to mass production  
  • Expert-level proficiency in 3D CAD and GD&T, preferably using CATIA V6 or equivalent tools.  
  • Hands-on experience with tools and equipment for prototyping and system builds.  
  • Expertise in structured root cause analysis and corrective action processes.  
  • Familiarity with systems engineering tools and methodologies (e.g., DOORS, SysML, FMEA, DFMEA). 

 

Salary Range: The compensation range for this position is specific to the locations listed below and is the range Lucid reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including job-related knowledge; skillset; experience, education and training; certifications; and other relevant business and organizational factors.
 
Additional Compensation and Benefits: Lucid offers a wide range of competitive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability insurance, vacation, and 401k. The successful candidate may also be eligible to participate in Lucid’s equity program and/or a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing such programs.  (Cash or equity incentive awards, if any, will depend on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and company performance.)

Base Pay Range (Annual)

$140,000 - $192,500 USD
