
Sr. Engineer – Closures Systems
Lucid’s Closures Team is looking for a Sr. Engineer to design and deliver world leading Closures Systems for our electric vehicle platforms.

Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and development of automotive Closures systems—including hoods, fenders, side doors, decklids, and liftgates—with a preference for experience in both metal and plastic components.
- Apply first-principles engineering to develop optimized solutions at both system and component levels, balancing performance, packaging, weight, durability, and cost.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams (e.g., Vehicle Safety, NVH, Dynamics, Durability, Manufacturing, Design Studio) and external suppliers to ensure seamless system integration.
- Interpret CAE analysis results to guide design evolution and ensure alignment with performance targets.
- Partner with manufacturing teams to ensure efficient process flow and high build quality.
- Support part & tool buy-offs, fixture & packaging reviews, and supplier engagement in coordination with Purchasing, Supplier Quality, Manufacturing and Tier 1 partners.
- Develop and execute comprehensive test plans, including coordination of virtual and physical validation activities.
- Lead technical discussions with interfacing suppliers to ensure manufacturability and quality standards are met.
- Apply GD&T principles to define robust tolerance and datum schemes.
- Travel domestically and internationally as required.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of expertise in automotive Closures systems and sub-systems at OEM or supplier desired.
- Proven success in system-level integration and cross-functional collaboration.
- Proficient in 3D CAD (CATIA V5/V6 or equivalent) and experienced with Class A surface data
- Hands-on experience with prototype and production assembly processes.
- Strong organizational and time management skills in fast-paced environments.
- Detail oriented personality with a determined problem-solving attitude using an Engineering first principles approach.
- Design release engineering experience including engineering change management and project management experiences.
- Experience in full life cycle development from concept to prototype to full production.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes applicable to automotive metals and plastics such as stampings, roll-forming, progressive dies, injection moldings, blow molding, SMC, extrusions, joining, etc.; their advantages, and limitations.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent from ABET accredited institution or equivalent closures automotive experience.
Base Pay Range (Annual)
$120,000 - $165,000 USD
