Sr. Technical Quality Engineering Specialist (L8)
About Lucid Motors
Lucid Motors is redefining luxury mobility through advanced electric vehicle technology, uncompromising quality, and world‑class manufacturing. As Lucid develops and launches complex vehicle systems at scale, disciplined technical quality execution is essential to preventing risk, validating design intent, and ensuring robust performance across the product lifecycle.
Role Summary
As Sr.Technical Quality Engineering Specialist, you will ensure Lucid vehicle systems, components, and manufacturing processes meet world‑class standards for safety, reliability, and customer satisfaction. This role spans early design and DFM through prototype builds, DV/PV validation, launch support, and continuous improvement. You will combine upstream product quality planning and risk prevention with hands‑on technical quality execution, working cross‑functionally with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supplier Quality, Program Management, Test & Validation, and Field Quality to identify risk early, validate controls, and drive disciplined issue closure.
YOU WILL
Upstream Product Quality & Risk Prevention
- Define and drive product quality and reliability requirements during concept, architecture, and design phases.
- Proactively identify design‑ and system‑level risks and drive mitigation plans prior to design freeze and tooling commitment.
- Support program quality gates by ensuring risks, evidence, and readiness criteria are met, including quality planning and validation readiness.
Technical Quality Engineering Execution
- Evaluate new components and systems for manufacturability and assembly feasibility, providing DFM/DFA input during concept, prototype, and design freeze phases.
- Provide hands‑on quality engineering support during prototype, DV, PV, and launch builds, identifying defects, tracking issues, and ensuring corrective actions.
- Validate design intent, part readiness, and process capability through build‑phase learning and verification.
Quality Tools, Engineering Analysis & Dimensional Ownership
- Apply core quality tools including APQP, PPAP, DFMEA/PFMEA, Control Plans, MSA, and SPC to evaluate risk and confirm robustness.
- Interpret engineering drawings using GD&T and perform tolerance stack‑ups; partner with engineering and metrology teams to resolve dimensional issues.
- Analyze performance metrics, test results, and build data to identify trends, prioritize issues, and drive corrective action focus.
Root Cause, Containment & Systemic Closure
- Lead cross‑functional investigations for design, process, supplier, and build issues using structured problem‑solving methodologies (e.g., 8D, 5‑Why, Ishikawa).
- Drive containment actions, verify corrective actions, and ensure recurrence prevention across program phases.
- Document lessons learned and ensure feedback into engineering standards and future programs.
Supplier & Manufacturing Collaboration
- Support supplier readiness through technical reviews, PPAP support, incoming quality issue resolution, audits, and containment activities.
- Partner with manufacturing teams to confirm process capability, stability, and effective control implementation.
Compliance & Quality System Contribution (Non‑Owner)
- Document processes and technical evidence aligned with ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and where applicable ISO 26262.
- Contribute to corporate QMS improvements by proposing standards, templates, and lessons learned (supporting role; not system owner).
YOU BRING
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related engineering discipline (Master’s preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in automotive, EV, aerospace, or other high‑complexity manufacturing environments supporting product development, validation, and/or launch quality.
- Hands‑on experience with APQP/PPAP, DFMEA/PFMEA, Control Plans, MSA/SPC, and structured problem solving.
- Strong understanding of GD&T, engineering drawings, tolerance analysis, and technical issue closure.
- Proven ability to influence cross‑functional teams through technical credibility, strong communication, and data‑driven recommendations.
- Flexibility to support build events and issue‑resolution windows, including off‑hours as needed; travel as required by build and site needs.
