Purchasing Assistant

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

Working alongside the purchasing team, the person in this role would be responsible for placing purchase orders with vendors, confirming accurate receipt of materials, maintaining accurate records, and maintaining an open line of communication with the Door Division team.  Day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Entering purchase orders
  • Confirming price, delivery, quantity, etc. on order acknowledgements from vendors
  • Updating purchase orders within operating system in regards to delivery dates, back orders, etc.
  • Tracking and expediting purchase orders as needed
  • Researching and responding to inter-company inquiries regarding door products and purchase orders
  • Communicating with vendors regarding purchase orders, products, ship dates, pricing etc.
  • Redistributing product including customer returns, write-offs, and vendor RGAs
  • Data entry and filing, as well as maintaining vendor files 
  • PO costing
  • Monitoring inventory to ensure there is enough inventory on hand to satisfy orders
  • Working with the receiving team to problem solve and improve processes for accurate PO receiving
  • Other duties and tasks as assigned

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • High School diploma/GED required
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field or commensurate experience preferred
  • 1-3 years’ experience in purchasing and inventory control strongly desired

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Ability to handle tasks with a sense of responsibility and urgency
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented
  • Possess strong time-management skills
  • Have an affinity for working with numbers
  • Ability to work through conflicts with vendors while maintaining good relationships
  • Ability to work independently and with others
  • Intermediate or above proficiency in MS Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Working knowledge of Agility software a plus
