Senior Document Control Specialist
About the Position
We’re seeking a Senior Document Control Specialist to support large, heavy-civil infrastructure projects in highways, roads, and bridges, transit (bus and rail), aviation (international airports), and water sectors delivered through both traditional and alternative methods. This role is responsible for establishing, implementing, and governing document control strategies, systems, and workflows across all project phases to ensure accuracy, compliance, and accessibility of project documentation.
This is a full-time, long-term, on-site position located in Atlanta, GA.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Define and implement document control standards, workflows, and procedures aligned with client, regulatory, and internal requirements.
- Establish and manage document control systems, including processes for authoring, review, approval, distribution, version control, and archiving.
- Oversee the full document lifecycle, ensuring accuracy, traceability, and accessibility of project records.
- Manage and audit document control processes and systems to ensure compliance with project requirements, contractual obligations, and applicable regulations.
- Develop and implement document retention, archival, and records management strategies in alignment with project and organizational needs.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for document control across project teams, coordinating with project managers, engineers, contractors, and client stakeholders.
- Provide training and guidance to project personnel on document control procedures, systems, and best practices.
- Review new and revised documentation for conformance with established standards and workflows.
- Support quality reviews, audits, and inspections by ensuring documentation is complete, organized, and readily accessible.
- Generate and analyze reports on document status, approvals, and outstanding actions to support project controls and decision-making.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior document control staff, ensuring consistency and quality of deliverables.
- Support preparation of documentation for regulatory submissions and project closeout.
- When serving as the sole document control resource on a project, may also support meeting agenda preparation, minutes, and other administrative tasks as needed.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, business administration, project management, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 8+ years of document control, project controls, or technical administrative experience on large (>$500M), complex, heavy-civil infrastructure projects.
- Experience establishing or managing document control systems, workflows, and procedures across multiple project phases.
- Experience working with construction and project-related documents, including drawings, RFIs, submittals, and correspondence.
- Demonstrated ability in technical writing, including developing and maintaining work instructions, standard operating procedures, and project documentation.
- Familiarity with ISO-based document control standards, guidelines, and best practices.
- Proficiency with enterprise document control systems and version control (e.g., SharePoint, e-Builder, Procore, Aconex, Asite, etc.).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite/Office 365 (e.g., Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in engineering, construction management, business administration, or project management.
- Prior experience working with or supporting Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) projects, processes, or stakeholders.
- Experience supporting document control strategy or governance on large, complex infrastructure programs.
- Experience in multiple phases of the project lifecycle (e.g., predesign, design, procurement, construction, and post-construction).
- Expertise with ISO 9001:2015 document control standards, guidelines, and best practices.
- Experience with data-driven reporting, dashboards, or analytics tools (e.g., Power BI, Oracle Cloud Analytics).
Compensation Details
Expected Salary: $90k-$120k/year ($43-$57/hour). Luster provides the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might offer for this position based on the successful candidate’s level of experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, education, certifications, licenses, geographic location, etc. Luster reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range depending on circumstances not related to any status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
