Job Overview

Marketech International Corporation USA is seeking a safety-focused and detail-oriented Hazardous Materials Response (HMR) Specialist to support hazardous materials management, emergency response preparedness, field inspections, chemical safety, and incident-response activities within an active semiconductor construction and manufacturing environment.

This role is responsible for supporting the safe handling, storage, transportation, and response management of hazardous materials throughout the project site. The HMR Specialist will work closely with EHS personnel, engineers, contractors, subcontractors, facility operations teams, chemical-system personnel, and emergency-response teams to identify hazards, verify compliance with site requirements, and support effective response to chemical spills, leaks, releases, and other hazardous-material incidents.

The ideal candidate has experience working with hazardous chemicals, emergency-response procedures, industrial safety programs, chemical distribution systems, or semiconductor/manufacturing environments. The position requires strong situational awareness, attention to detail, communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities

Hazardous Materials Response & Emergency Preparedness

• Support hazardous-material emergency-response activities involving chemical spills, leaks, releases, exposure concerns, and other site incidents.
• Assist with initial hazard identification, site control, containment, isolation, and escalation activities in accordance with established emergency-response procedures and level of training.
• Coordinate with HMR leadership, EHS personnel, facility operations, contractors, and emergency-response teams during hazardous-material incidents.
• Support the establishment and maintenance of appropriate exclusion zones, restricted areas, and other controls during chemical or hazardous-material events.
• Assist with spill containment, cleanup coordination, decontamination activities, waste handling, and recovery efforts as applicable.
• Maintain familiarity with site emergency-response plans, chemical hazards, emergency contacts, evacuation procedures, and incident-notification requirements.
• Participate in emergency-response drills, tabletop exercises, simulations, and other preparedness activities.
• Inspect and maintain emergency-response supplies, spill kits, PPE, containment materials, and related equipment to ensure readiness.
• Document response activities, incident conditions, corrective actions, equipment usage, and follow-up requirements.

Hazardous Materials & Chemical Safety

• Support the safe handling, storage, labeling, movement, and use of hazardous chemicals and materials throughout the project site.
• Review Safety Data Sheets (SDS), chemical labels, hazard classifications, and related safety documentation.
• Verify that chemicals and hazardous materials are stored in designated locations and maintained in accordance with applicable site requirements.
• Identify improper chemical storage, labeling, segregation, containment, or handling practices and communicate concerns to appropriate personnel.
• Assist with inspections of chemical storage areas, chemical distribution systems, hazardous-material staging areas, and related facility infrastructure.
• Monitor secondary containment, chemical cabinets, storage areas, drums, containers, and related equipment for visible deficiencies or unsafe conditions.
• Support chemical inventory tracking and hazardous-material documentation as required.
• Coordinate with chemical-system, facility, maintenance, and contractor teams regarding hazardous-material controls and safe work practices.
• Assist with reviewing planned activities involving hazardous materials to identify potential risks and required controls before work begins.

Field Safety, Inspections & Compliance

• Conduct routine field inspections and safety walkthroughs throughout active construction, cleanroom, mechanical, chemical, and industrial areas.
• Identify hazardous conditions, unsafe practices, chemical-management concerns, and potential environmental or safety risks.
• Verify compliance with company policies, project requirements, PPE expectations, chemical-handling procedures, and site-specific safety standards.
• Monitor work involving hazardous materials and confirm required controls are implemented before and during the activity.
• Document field observations, deficiencies, inspection findings, and corrective actions using established reporting systems.
• Communicate identified issues to contractors, supervisors, project teams, HMR leadership, and EHS personnel.
• Track corrective actions through completion and verify appropriate resolution of identified concerns.
• Support incident investigations, near-miss reviews, root-cause evaluations, and corrective-action development.
• Assist with maintaining accurate inspection records, incident documentation, chemical records, and other HMR-related documentation.
• Maintain awareness of changing field conditions and immediately escalate significant hazards or emergency conditions.

Incident Investigation & Documentation

• Support investigations involving hazardous-material spills, releases, chemical exposures, unsafe conditions, and other HMR-related incidents.
• Gather relevant information including photographs, witness information, equipment conditions, chemical documentation, and field observations.
• Assist with identifying contributing factors, immediate causes, and potential preventive measures.
• Prepare clear and accurate incident reports, field observations, and corrective-action documentation.
• Maintain organized records of HMR incidents, inspections, emergency-response activities, and follow-up actions.
• Support trend analysis and identification of recurring hazardous-material or chemical-safety concerns.
• Participate in lessons-learned discussions and continuous-improvement activities following incidents or emergency exercises.

Team Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

• Work collaboratively with EHS personnel, engineers, construction teams, facility operations, contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and customer representatives.
• Participate in daily safety meetings, pre-task planning discussions, toolbox talks, emergency-response meetings, and project coordination activities.
• Provide clear communication regarding hazardous-material concerns, emergency-response readiness, inspection findings, and corrective actions.
• Support the development and improvement of HMR procedures, emergency-response protocols, inspection processes, and site-safety practices.
• Assist with HMR training, safety orientations, chemical-safety awareness, and emergency-response education as assigned.
• Support project leadership in maintaining a proactive safety culture throughout construction, commissioning, and facility operations.
• Maintain professionalism, dependability, and a safety-first approach while working in fast-paced semiconductor, industrial, and construction environments.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous experience in hazardous materials, environmental health and safety, emergency response, industrial safety, chemical operations, construction safety, manufacturing, or a related field.
• Working knowledge of chemical hazards, Safety Data Sheets, chemical labeling, hazardous-material handling, and basic emergency-response principles.
• Ability to recognize unsafe conditions and appropriately communicate or escalate hazardous-material concerns.
• Strong observational, documentation, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to follow established emergency-response procedures, standard operating procedures, and site-specific safety requirements.
• Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with employees, contractors, supervisors, engineers, and customer representatives.
• Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Ability to work safely in active construction, industrial, cleanroom, and semiconductor environments.
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Ability to maintain accurate inspection, incident, and corrective-action documentation.
• Ability to respond appropriately to changing field conditions and time-sensitive situations.

Preferred Qualifications

• HAZWOPER 40-Hour certification or equivalent hazardous-material response training.
• OSHA 30-Hour Construction or General Industry certification.
• Hazardous Materials Operations-Level or Technician-Level training.
• First Aid, CPR, and AED certification.
• Experience responding to chemical spills, leaks, releases, or hazardous-material incidents.
• Experience with semiconductor manufacturing, chemical distribution systems, cleanrooms, industrial facilities, or large-scale construction projects.
• Familiarity with acids, bases, solvents, compressed gases, specialty chemicals, or other materials commonly used in semiconductor manufacturing.
• Experience conducting safety inspections, incident investigations, corrective-action tracking, or emergency-response drills.
• Knowledge of hazardous-material storage, segregation, secondary containment, spill prevention, and decontamination practices.
• Familiarity with applicable OSHA, EPA, NFPA, and hazardous-material safety requirements.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout active construction and industrial areas.
• Ability to climb stairs, access elevated or restricted work areas, and navigate uneven construction surfaces as required.
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, including hard hat, safety glasses, safety footwear, gloves, high-visibility clothing, and other PPE required for specific work activities.
• May be required to wear respiratory or chemical-protective equipment when appropriately trained, medically cleared, and required by the work activity.
• Ability to work around chemical systems, mechanical equipment, piping systems, construction activities, industrial machinery, and other workplace hazards.
• Ability to work indoors, outdoors, and within active semiconductor facility environments.
• Ability to respond to emergency situations and changing site conditions as required by project operations.
• All hazardous-material response activities must be performed within the employee's assigned responsibilities, training level, qualifications, and established site procedures
