As a Buyer on our team, you will be given the challenge of procuring material for internal and external manufacturing, production support, and engineering development projects that makes production of Markforged’s products possible.  You will work with suppliers on critical supply situations to resolve time-sensitive needs for material. You’ll also work closely with our production and manufacturing operations to ensure availability of key production material at the right cost, quality and cost.

What will you own?

  • Execute purchase orders for production, including direct materials for internal and external manufacturing
  • Issue purchase orders to category suppliers to support critical business needs
  • Actively expedite suppliers to improve critical delivery needs to support challenging program requirements
  • Support resolution of quality issues, and continuously improve purchased material cost
  • Support production purchasing, including supplier RFP development, quoting and procurement 
  • Conduct competitive supplier bidding to ensure that ongoing purchases are contracted with supply partners offering the best value including delivery support, quality and cost.
  • Support purchases of critical development program material, including quick-turn prototype requirements
  • Identify suppliers and expedite materials as necessary to support development program needs
  • Track supplier implementation of these changes in delivered products and materials
  • Support sourcing projects including supplier identification, evaluation and purchasing
  • Lead kanban program for Billerica production including program parameters and related purchasing
  • Initiate and lead process improvements including quality, efficiency, inventory and cost improvements
  • Recommend and execute risk purchases to mitigate supply risk to protect production delivery schedules
  • Execute purchases with a corporate credit card and reconciling monthly expenses incurred
  • Ensure inventory levels and targets align with business rules
  • Lead MRP Validation meeting and issue work orders to support inventory requirements per SAGE
  • Ensure work orders at BI are fully closed out and incorporated into SAGE

What you have

  • Solid base of 2-3 years professional purchasing or sourcing experience within a product manufacturing environment.
  • Prior experience with ERP and production scheduling systems in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to logically address issues cross-functionally, evaluate alternatives and find solutions
  • Organized, and able to multitask / prioritize in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable interacting in conflict situations and maintain a balanced and professional demeanor
  • Skilled at G Suite, and able to learn and use various collaboration apps
  • Positive attitude and high energy level
  • Strong passion, curiosity and insight to learn and drive continuously improvement
  • Comfortable with lots of information and data, and able to organize and prioritize it
  • High level of integrity and character
  • Ability to advance to higher level roles within Sourcing, Operations, and the business
  • BA/BS degree or equivalent experience, preferably in business or a technical discipline
  • Skilled at interpreting technical drawings and specs, and able to develop a full understanding of  Markforged products
