Building Environmental Services Technician
We are seeking a Building Environmental Services Technician who will play a key role in maintaining a safe, secure, and well‑managed environment at Mather Place. This position is responsible for conducting comprehensive property inspections—both indoors and outdoors—monitoring access points, responding to emergencies, and enforcing policies to ensure the community remains secure and hazard‑free.
In this hands‑on, independent role, you’ll follow established safety protocols, document incidents with accuracy, and support clear communication between shifts to ensure smooth operations. The role requires proactive problem-solving, attention to detail, and the ability to respond calmly and efficiently to emergent situations.
Full-time and Part-time positions available. The schedule for this position is: 11pm - 7am, overnight.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Conduct multiple scheduled inspections and walkthroughs to monitor security at key locations. Walkthroughs should cover both indoor and outdoor premises, including hallways and
- Inspect parking areas for suspicious activity or unauthorized vehicles and address
- Check for fire hazards, blocked exits, or improper material
- Provide exceptional customer service to all residents, guests, and visitors of Mather
- Review emails, receive shift briefings, and collect necessary equipment (radio, iPad, and any other method of communication implemented).
- Verify visitor check-ins, ensure entry points are secure, and log late-night deliveries as
- Monitor contractor activities to ensure compliance with
- Monitor closed-circuit television (CCTV) or other surveillance systems for suspicious activity or unauthorized access.
- Respond to door alerts, emergency wellness checks, or other security
- Respond promptly to fire, weather, or other emergency alarms and follow established
- Assist in emergency evacuations or conduct safety drills when
- Escort staff or visitors to their vehicles upon
- Identify and address slip, trip, or fall hazards such as spills or uneven
- Report maintenance issues, including malfunctioning doors or lights, to the appropriate
- Identify any facility issues and generate a work
- Complete all assigned tasks and duties utilizing computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
- Document suspicious activities, security incidents, or emergencies through detailed
- Assist with investigations, including gathering evidence or interviewing
- Coordinate with law enforcement or emergency services when
- Collaborate with reception to resolve security issues and provide
- Perform final lobby check-ins to confirm all information is up to
- Inspect the loading dock for overnight package deliveries and ensure proper
- Secure all exterior doors, including side doors, to maintain building security and manage accessibility according to schedule.
- Check compactor rooms for proper functionality.
- Enforce property policies, such as noise restrictions, smoking bans, or curfews, in a professional Work with appropriate leaders, Director, Building Services and Director, Resident Engagement regarding policy violations.
- Complete checklists, email detailed pass-on reports to day shift to include turnover items and clock out on
- Identifies areas for improvement, proposes possible solutions, and participates in data collection and process changes as part of the Quality Assurance Process Improvement process.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Required:
- High school diploma or
- At least 2-3 years of relevant experience, in areas such as public safety, security, environmental safety and at least 21 years of age.
- Proficiency in English
- Experience working with older
- Willingness to be part of a self-directed
- Service orientation with excellent interpersonal skills; ability to multi-task.
- Beginner proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Proficient with digital devices such as barcode scanners, iPads, and surveillance
- Strong attention to detail and communication
Preferred:
- Experience in hospital/healthcare settings and/or senior living community
The hourly base wage range is a good faith estimate of the range Mather reasonably expects to pay for this position at the time of the posting. The actual hourly base wage paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to specific skills or certifications, years of experience, geographic location and market changes. The position is also eligible to participate in Mather benefit plans and Employee Appreciation Fund.
Hourly Pay Range
$23 - $24.50 USD
