Director of Software
MatX's mission is to make the world’s best AI models run as efficiently as allowed by physics, bringing the world years ahead in AI quality and availability. We are developing vertically integrated full-stack solutions from silicon to systems including hardware and software to train and run the largest ML workloads for AGI. We are looking for people who are excited about systems-focused ML research.
Responsibilities include:
- Own the overall execution and delivery of the compiler and kernels for MatX hardware
- Support technical leads in developing and maintaining the technical direction and roadmap for compiler and kernel development
- Build and track team schedules, assess feasibility, and monitor progress against key milestones
- Manage andmentor the engineering team, focusing on skill development and performance growth
- Lead the hiring process to grow the team with top engineering talent
- We are a small but mighty startup, and we expect this person will deeply engage in technical designs, reviews, and implementation in addition to their management responsibilities
Requirements:
- Successfully delivered a complete software stack for an ML Accelerator
- Example companies: Groq, GraphCore, SambaNova, Cerebras, Google XLA Compiler, or JAX team, Meta PyTorch team, OpenAI Triton team
- Brings 10+ years of team leadership experience and will oversee a 20+ person team within our Software organization
- Deep expertise in ML compilers and ML kernel development
- This is a hybrid role that will require you to work from our Mountain View, CA office 3 days a week on Tuesday through Thursday
Compensation:
The US base salary for this full-time position is determined based on a variety of factors, including role, experience, location, job-related skills, and relevant education and training. Career length is only a guideline for compensation. Our offers allow candidates to swap cash for equity. The broad ranges for mid/senior candidates reflect greater flexibility for cash/equity swaps.
- 10+ years experience - $120,000 - $400,000 + equity
