Maven is looking for a technical leader with a strong understanding of business process and experience scaling financial systems in a high growth, fast moving environment. You will have the unique opportunity to lead the design of the financial systems landscape, with a focus on AI and automation adoption, build out a financial systems support team and related infrastructure and play a key role in the finance’s teams ability to scale in a high growth environment.
As a Director Enterprise Applications Financial Systems at Maven, you will:
- Lead Financial Technology Strategy:
- Define and execute the Finance and Accounting Technology roadmap, integrating it with Maven’s broader business strategies. Drive the adoption of AI and other emerging technologies to revolutionize financial processes
- Architect & Optimize Financial Systems:
- Own the end-to-end architecture of our financial reporting ecosystem (including NetSuite, Bill.com, Teampay, Navan, Expensify, Zip, proprietary systems). Ensure seamless data integration and serve as the definitive subject matter expert.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and tools in the context of Maven’s business process and make recommendations to the Accounting and Finance teams on opportunities to drive automation via new ERP and tool adoption.
- Drive Automation & Process Intelligence:
- Spearhead transformative process improvements and automation opportunities, leveraging AI-driven solutions to enhance efficiency, reduce manual effort, and improve accuracy within Accounting.
- Data and Reporting
- Partner with the Data and Engineering teams to streamline and automate reporting efforts.
- Establish data governance rules around key inputs into financial systems and drive accountability and validation of key data sources.
- User and Change Management:
- Oversee Administration and maintenance of user access and security roles within Financial Systems, ensuring appropriate access controls are in place. Conduct regular reviews of security permissions.
- Manage System Configuration & Development: Oversee the configuration and development of financial systems, co-defining requirements with functional owners, arbitrating solutions with technical teams, and managing comprehensive testing and deployment processes.
- Adopt IT General Control best practices for system administration in a public company SOX compliant environment.
Minimum Requirements:
- Experience: 12+ years in financial systems leadership, with extensive expertise in ERP implementation, optimization, and strategic architectural design within a publicly traded tech company.
- Technical Acumen:
- Deep understanding of financial reporting and accounting principles. Proven expertise in major financial applications. Strong foundational knowledge and practical experience with enterprise cloud-based systems
- Innovation & AI Mindset:
- Demonstrated ability to evaluate and integrate emerging technologies, including AI, machine learning, and intelligent automation methodologies.
- Leadership & Communication:
- Outstanding communication, collaboration, and executive presence, with the ability to build and inspire teams and influence senior stakeholders.
- Functional Knowledge:
- Familiar with Order to Cash,, Procure to Pay, Record to Report financial processes. Understand ASC606 and experience of implementing complex revenue recognitions in NetSuite or other systems.
- Controls Knowledge
- Understands financial reporting risk in relation to user administration/security design and application change management. Demonstrated ability to drive process design to balance operational efficiency and control/compliance requirements.
The base salary range for this role is $200,000-$230,000 per year. You will also be entitled to receive stock options and benefits. Individual pay decisions are based on a number of factors, including qualifications for the role, experience level, and skillset.
Maven embraces a flexible hybrid work model. Our teams primarily operate from the New York Metropolitan area, NY, and remotely via San Francisco/Bay Area, CA, Seattle, WA, Boston, MA, Chicago, IL, and Washington, D.C. For those in our New York City office, we encourage in-person collaboration by requiring team members to work onsite three days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday). For those based in San Francisco/Bay Area, CA, Seattle, WA, Boston, MA, Chicago, IL, and Washington, D.C., we encourage in-person collaboration by requiring team members to attend quarterly Work Together Days within these cities. This policy aims to balance remote work flexibility with the benefits of face-to-face interaction.
This role requires active work authorization in the US.
