Landscape Architect Designer

Position Purpose
The Landscape Architect will interface with project design teams, develop design solutions, and advance projects in all phases of the design process. A qualified candidate may expect to collaborate with other design professionals and work on a variety of exciting projects in all of our key market sectors including residential, commercial, institutional, municipal, parks & recreation and urban design. A team member in this role is expected to actively contribute to all phases of work, including the production of high-quality designs and documentations, assisting the Practice Manager with organizing workflow and coordinating with other project and staff resource teams.
Essential Functions + Responsibilities
Technical
- Collect, analyze and present data
- Conduct field observations from project inception through construction administration
- Produce high-quality construction documents, bid packages, cost estimates and graphics
- Assist Practice Manager in the preparation of design specifications and other technical documents including design guidelines and project narratives
- Perform site planning at a variety of scales and project types including residential, commercial, institutional, and public and on specific projects such as community planning and amenities, parks & recreation, greenways, and urban design
- Demonstrate strong understanding of design process through sketching and graphics generated by hand and digital software
- Interpret and apply development ordinances and codes to designs to seek development approval
- Maintain effective schedule management and internal / external coordination skills
- Collaborate with internal and external multi-disciplinary teams to deliver high-quality projects
- Assist Practice Manager with implementation of QA/QC processes
Interpersonal
- Contribute to the culture and enthusiasm of the Planning + Design team and maintain an emphasis on landscape architecture and design excellence
- Participate in external and internal organizations and events
- Focus on business development with our existing clients through the production and delivery of high-quality work.
- Maintain and contribute to healthy relationships with teams throughout the organization as well as with our clients, municipal staff, governing bodies, and professional organizations
- Demonstrate excellent written, oral, and visual communication skills
- Exemplify commitment to quality, accuracy, and visual excellence
Management
- Limited supervisory responsibilities may be required
- Mentor, guide, and train novice staff in the practice of landscape architecture
Candidates should provide work samples / portfolio electronically when submitting their resume.
- Provide a digital portfolio illustrating relevant experience and competency in the field of landscape architecture. Projects should demonstrate technical proficiency and delivery of a concept from project inception through construction administration.
- A supporting narrative demonstrating capabilities to articulate design and communicate objectives is desirable.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Landscape Architecture from an accredited program
- RLA licensure (NC preferred)
- 8+ years (preferred) of working experience in the field of landscape architecture
- Demonstrated expertise in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suites (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, etc.), Lumion and Sketch-up
- Strong written and oral communications skills are required
- Eager to engage in our creative and dynamic work environment
- Ability to multi-task, communicate schedule and progress on assigned tasks
- Ability for limited travel required
