Good people. Good work. Great opportunities.

McCullough Robertson is a commercially focused firm, working with high-calibre national and international clients. We work on big matters in small teams, approaching each day with dedication and professionalism.

We provide exceptional opportunities for our employees to perform, grow and succeed through extensive training and career development. Our teams work together and support one another to achieve individual, team and firm-wide goals.

Backed by a national team of over 400 staff located in Brisbane and Sydney, McCullough Robertson is a big firm, without the attitude.

The Role

Working as the firm’s Legal Automation Specialist, you will play a key role in developing and maintaining  digital solutions such as precedents, workflows and knowledge systems aimed at optimising and enhancing legal operations. You will rigorously test and validate automation tools to ensure they meet high standards of quality, compliance, governance, data privacy, and brand consistency. This role sits within the broader Knowledge and Legal Excellence team and offers a diverse and engaging scope of work, spanning document automation, legal technology implementation, workflow optimisation, training delivery, and innovation projects.

Key duties will include:

  • Using low-code and no-code tools to design, develop, or oversee prototypes and proof-of-concepts, and managing the final build of digital service solutions and online interfaces.
  • Reading project documents, including user stories and requirements, and translating them into clear technical specifications and solutions.
  • Ensuring all digital solutions comply with governance, data privacy, and brand standards.
  • Conducting thorough testing, validation, and performance checks on digital solutions.
  • Offering guidance and troubleshooting support for digital solutions, document automation, legal precedents, templates, and formatting queries.
  • Developing and delivering training to support effective use of digital solutions, precedents, and templates.
  • Maintaining documentation, standards, and governance frameworks for digital solutions.
  • Staying up to date with digital trends, product updates, and new technologies, and sharing useful insights with the team to promote innovation and informed decision-making.

Experience

As the ideal candidate, you will bring a strong mix of technical expertise, innovative thinking, and collaborative spirit to our team. You have hands-on experience developing and implementing digital solutions for the legal industry, including low-code no code platforms, document automation, and AI-driven document review.

You are confident working with generative AI tools and understand their application in legal automation and process optimisation. Experience with SQL Management, eDiscovery, or Microsoft Stack Development will be highly regarded, as will a foundation in basic programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, CSS, or HTML.

You demonstrate excellent communication, problem-solving, and time management skills, coupled with a strong ability to build and maintain client relationships. You are detail-oriented, adaptable, and collaborative, capable of working independently while managing competing priorities effectively.

With proven leadership and accountability, you take ownership of team deliverables and actively mentor others, fostering a culture of learning and innovation. You show initiative in driving new ideas, challenging the status quo, and maintaining a steadfast commitment to quality, accuracy, and compliance.
