Our staff is dedicated to creating spaces for learning and healing around stigmatized and under-resourced areas in mental health—hoarding and cluttering behavior, peer employment support, wellness & nutrition, community-based crisis response, service navigation, and more. Department: Finance

Job Status: Part-Time (20 hours/week), non-exempt

Hours & Location:

  • General business hours are 9:00am – 5:00pm, Monday – Friday; this role would require 4 hours of work per day.
  • Hybrid schedule: remote work eligible, travel to SF main office 2 days a week

Salary: $33.65/hourly

Reports To: Director of Finance

Overview of Position:

The Bookkeeper is responsible for the oversight and administration of accounting functions.  The Bookkeeper will be responsible for full cycle AP/AR, bank reconciliations, and general accounting administration.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare invoices for review and submission weekly and/or monthly for contract invoicing
  • Responsible for the proper coding of cash receipts and timely recording/logging of revenue in the general ledger
  • Deposit checks on the same day of receipt if amount is $5,000 or more
  • Enter vendor invoices and staff reimbursements into Quickbooks in a timely manner
  • Process AP checks weekly
  • Maintain and update MHASF’s system of cost allocation
  • Verify billing and purchasing credit card charges and match with proper expense documentation
  • Record keeping and monthly bank reconciliation for all MHASF accounts
  • Assists Finance team with audit and other requests

Qualifications:

  • Certificate/knowledge of bookkeeping or 1 year bookkeeping experience
  • Strong communication skills and excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize competing demands and highly developed organizational and time management skills
  • Intermediate or higher skill in Microsoft Office and Quickbooks,
  • Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality and handling sensitive information
  • Willingness to learn from others and take direction
  • Commitment to upholding the mission, vision, and values of MHASF
  • Proficiency in web navigation and use of search engines for internet-based research and self-education

Physical Requirements 

The position requires long periods of work at a desk, which may involve sitting or standing and the use of a computer, keyboard, mouse, and desk phone. The office building and between floors of the building, and to travel short distances (under 1 mile) is required. Other physical tasks may involve reaching, pulling, pushing, bending, climbing a stepladder, use of a dolly to move items weighing up to 50 lbs., and lifting and carrying up to 20 lbs.
