Job Title:         Senior Azure & Hybrid Systems Administrator

Reports To:     Manager, Cloud Platform and Data Operations

FLSA Status:   Exempt

Location:         Remote

 

Summary:

The Senior Azure & Hybrid Systems Administrator will serve as a technical leader in implementing, securing, and managing Meriton’s Azure cloud and hybrid infrastructure. This role is responsible for the full lifecycle of cloud and on-premises systems, ensuring secure, scalable, and highly available environments across the organization.

 

This position will focus on cloud architecture, hybrid server management, security and compliance, and automation, while ensuring seamless integration across enterprise applications and business systems. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in Microsoft Azure, hybrid infrastructure (including Azure Arc), and modern service management practices, with the ability to bridge legacy systems and cloud-native solutions. This role will play a key part in driving infrastructure modernization initiatives, including server lifecycle management, vulnerability remediation, backup and disaster recovery, and migration of on-premises workloads to Azure.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Cloud & Infrastructure

  • Design, implement, and manage secure Azure cloud infrastructure across IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS environments.
  • Create and manage Azure resources including VMs, storage, networking, and identity services.
  • Plan and execute migrations of servers and applications from on-premises to Azure, optimizing performance and cost.
  • Integrate Azure with enterprise applications, databases, and third-party SaaS platforms.
  • Manage hybrid and multi-cloud environments, including the use of Azure Arc for centralized governance.

Server & Systems Management

  • Maintain and support on-premise and cloud-based server environments across their full lifecycle.
  • Perform server patching, updates, system hardening, and performance optimization.
  • Implement and manage backup and disaster recovery solutions to ensure business continuity.
  • Monitor system health, capacity, and availability to meet uptime requirements.

Security & Compliance

  • Implement and enforce cloud and infrastructure security standards (IAM, encryption, threat detection).
  • Identify, prioritize, and remediate vulnerabilities across systems and environments.
  • Ensure compliance with internal governance policies and external regulatory requirements.
  • Support security monitoring, alerting, and incident response activities.

Operations & Automation

  • Provide 24x7 operational support for mission-critical systems, ensuring high availability and reliability.
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning and system management using IaC tools (Terraform, ARM, Ansible).
  • Apply IT Service Management (ITSM) practices (e.g., incident, change, problem management).
  • Collaborate with development, security, and business teams to support DevOps and CI/CD initiatives.
  • Lead troubleshooting and resolution of complex infrastructure and integration issues.
  • Continuously evaluate and adopt new technologies and best practices in Azure and cloud operations.

  • Assists the leadership of the C-Level team and other team members with various research projects and/or special projects
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Education/Experience:

  • 5–7+ years of experience in systems administration, cloud engineering, or infrastructure roles.
  • Proven expertise in Microsoft Azure, including design and management of IaaS, PaaS, and hybrid environments.
  • Strong background in integrating cloud platforms with enterprise systems (ERP, CRM, SaaS).
  • Hands-on experience managing Windows/Linux server environments across cloud and on-premises.
  • Strong understanding of server lifecycle management, including patching, upgrades, performance tuning, and decommissioning.
  • Experience with backup, restore, and disaster recovery strategies in enterprise environments.
  • Familiarity with virtualization platforms and hybrid infrastructure management (including Azure Arc).
  • Experience with vulnerability management and remediation processes.
  • Skilled in monitoring, alerting, and capacity management to ensure high up time.
  • Experience with IT Service Management (ITSM) practices (e.g., ITIL).
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation (PowerShell, Python, Bash, Azure CLI).
  • Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC), automation frameworks, and DevOps workflows.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex, cross-system infrastructure and integration issues.
  • Experience providing 24x7 operational support in enterprise environments.
  • Experience maintaining on-premise infrastructure and migrating workloads to cloud (SaaS, PaaS, IaaS).
  • Strong knowledge of networking, firewalls, and cloud-based security frameworks.
  • Relevant certifications (Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate (or equivalent Windows Server certification), ITIL) are highly desirable.
  • Must be proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word

The workplace is in a corporate office environment and the temperature in the work environment is usually moderate. The position’s primary office is affiliated with the Shared Services, Irving, TX office; however, telework or work at home, on the road, or in a satellite location for portions of the workweek may occur, depending upon project needs and requirements in coordination with your direct supervisor and/or most senior leader of your department. Occasional travel may be required.
