About the role:

The Azure Cloud and System Administrator will be the day-to-day hands-on manager of the Bank’s Microsoft Azure Admin (Azure Cloud, on-premises infrastructure and Office 365). The position requires interaction with all IT staff, Information Security Officer (ISO), bank staff, and third-party vendors. The Azure Cloud and System Administrator should have good attention to detail and understand the effects of infrastructure changes on the systems, applications, and users. The Azure Cloud and System Administrator will thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

Duties and responsibilities of the job include the following (but is not limited to):

Azure Cloud and System Administration

  • Responsible for engineering, support, monitoring and maintenance of Microsoft Azure AD and Subscriptions, Azure Virtual Servers and Storage Environments.
  • Provide technical support and solutions related to implementation, configuration, and maintenance of Windows Servers in Azure on on-premises datacenters.
  • Install, configure, administer, and support Azure compute instances, Azure Backup, Azure Storage Monitor, snapshot, Azure Storage, vNet, Load Balancers.
  • Knowledge of Azure resources and management: subscriptions, resource groups, VMs, storage accounts, load balancers, app gateway, vNets, subnets, ExpressRoute, private endpoints, DNS, recovery services vaults.
  • Understand networking in Azure and security concepts with cloud defender, best practices for deployments, NSGs, ASGs, application deployments, PaaS services, database support.
  • Responsible for Infrastructure and Cloud monitoring with tools such as SolarWinds.
  • Develop security baselines and standards for Azure resources, hardening and strengthening security to exceed the latest best practices.
  • Optimize Azure buildouts for cost/performance (VM optimization, reserved instances, etc.)
  • Design, deploy and support hyperconverged server virtualization platform.
  • Perform Windows Server OS administration.
  • Perform server maintenance and upkeep.
  • Install, configure, and upgrade server and infrastructure software.
  • Install and manage Azure security tools (Sentinel, Defender, Key Vault, Azure Firewall, etc.)
  • Coordinate with department leadership to plan, design, and schedule the release of all software, hardware, and operating system updates.
  • Perform regular updates and backup operations for data protection and recovery.
  • Performing installation setup, deployments, testing, and validation related to deployments.
  • Taking ownership of tickets, documenting related actions in the system, and closing tickets upon completion.
  • Communicating regularly with team members, apprising them of ticket status and anticipated resolution timing.
  • Prioritize and respond to requests for service and may provide escalation support to Helpdesk staff
  • Provide timely and efficient customer service. Respond to technical issues in a professional and timely manner. Manage and respond to escalated client inquiries.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software errors. Document problems and resolutions and assess the impact of issues which may require escalation to Senior Management.
  • Maintain operating efficiency and stability, ensure the security and integrity of all systems and data, and respond to outages and other issues.
  • Perform root cause analysis and resolve faults and errors in applications.
  • Research and implementation of new Azure tools, products and technologies to improve efficiency, performance and cost effectiveness.
  • Recommend, develop, plan, manage, implement, and fully document IT projects.
  • Identify improvements to IT documentation, network maps, processes/procedures, and tickets.
  • Develop and enhance processes and technical documentation, create back-up procedures, test plans, and reports.
  • Assist in infrastructure project work, including branch relocation, closure, opening, office relocation, expansion.
  • Provide technical support to end users, via Helpdesk requests within specified timeframes. This will be largely onsite, however travel to branch locations will be needed on occasion.
  • Assist Helpdesk support staff, and the Head of IT Infrastructure and Cloud Administrator in day-to-day activities
  • Document all activities via a ticket or change record.
  • Assist in maintaining network diagrams and documentation.
  • Cross-train with others on Infrastructure team to ensure proper backup of skills and abilities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Office 365

  • Administration of Office 365 Services: Exchange, Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive and other Office 365 collaboration-focused applications.
  • Responsible for Office 365 Exchange Online administration (maintaining O365 Exchange mailboxes, user accounts, distribution groups, policies, transport rules, and establishing infrastructure mailbox constraints, and advising on enterprise exchange policies (including OME & S/MIME Encryption, DKIM, DMARC and SPF concepts).
  • Litigation Requests, including email searches, restoration of archived emails, litigation hold requests.
  • Resolution of On-prem and Cloud email and Domain controller issues.
  • Configure and maintain email filtering and security tools.
  • Assist in management and upgrades of security certificates, patches, etc.
  • Management of vulnerabilities (patching) on desktops/servers.
  • Troubleshooting and supporting Microsoft Teams.
  • Working knowledge of Information Protection, Data Governance and Compliance in Microsoft 365
  • MFA implementation, troubleshooting and administration.
  • Respond to network and security, SPAM/malware alerts/incidents.
  • Configure, support, and troubleshoot all user desktop software.
  • Create/Manage user accounts in Active Directory.
  • Help manage end-user accounts, permissions, and access rights for all applications within the environment.
  • Create Knowledge Base articles for both users and IT personnel to assist with knowledge transfer.
  • Other duties as required.
  • Daily Monitoring and Alert Responses.
  • Ticket Triage and Issue Resolution.

 

Preferred experience, education, and qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Network Security, Computer Science or a related field of study or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 8 years of performing relevant Server, Storage, Backup and Cloud Engineering and Administration.
  • Ability to assess a wide range of technologies including networking, applications development, and cloud and hosted environments.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve complex problems and provide timely user follow-up.
  • Excellent analytical skills: detail-oriented; ability to grasp new concepts quickly, synthesize complex information effectively, and communicate complicated issues clearly and simply to present clear and actionable choices and recommendations.
  • Creative problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with Hyperconverged platform, VMware, Cisco switches, Nutanix is a plus.
  • Prior experience working in the banking industry preferred.
  • The candidate should have excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • A strong foundation of basic networking concepts, including hands-on experience managing network devices
  • Knowledge of current industry standard IT technologies and market trends
  • Experience with Azure Cloud
  • Office 365 Litigation hold and retrieval knowledge is a plus
  • At least 8 Years of Windows Server Administration Experience
  • At least 8 Years of Experience Supporting a medium-to-large Azure Environment
  • Ability to work in a constantly evolving environment
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be a good listener and good teacher
  • Demonstrate analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • The ability to learn new technologies quickly
  • Self-directed individual with technology and communication skills.
  • Ability to take in multiple sources of information with an understanding of the bigger picture need, want, and operation of the Bank
  • Collaborative team-player who can find creative and practical solutions in a dynamic work environment
  • Ability to handle ambiguity, juggle multiple matters at once, and quickly and seamlessly shift from one situation or task to another

Potential Salary: $180,000 - $200,000 annually

This salary range only reflects base wages and does not include benefits, bonus, or incentive pay. Salary bands are purposefully wide ranging to encompass the different factors considered in determining where a candidate falls in the range, including but not limited to, seniority, performance, experience, education, and any other legitimate, non-discriminatory factor permitted by law.
