Medical Technician (Med Tech)  

Department: Clinical Operations  
Reports To: Clinical Manager / Director of Clinical Operations  

Position Summary  

The Medical Technician (Med Tech) is an integral member of the Miller Vein clinical team, providing direct support to physicians and Advanced Practice Providers during patient examinations and office-based vein procedures. This position is responsible for patient preparation, clinical assistance, documentation, and maintaining a safe, efficient, and compassionate environment that reflects Miller Vein's commitment to exceptional patient care. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities  

• Welcome and room patients while providing exceptional customer service.  

• Obtain and document vital signs, medical history updates, medications, allergies, and chief complaints. 

• Assist providers during examinations and office procedures. 

• Prepare exam and procedure rooms with the necessary equipment, instruments, supplies, and medications.  

• Prepare patients for examinations and procedures by obtaining vital signs, updating medical information, and ensuring patient comfort.  

• Anticipate provider needs by assisting with instruments, supplies, and patient positioning during procedures.  

• Maintain a clean, organized, and sterile clinical environment in accordance with OSHA, CDC, and infection control standards.  

• Apply dressings, compression garments, and provide post-procedure instructions as directed by the provider.  

• Accurately document patient care and clinical activities in the electronic medical record (EMR).  

• Clean, disinfect, and restock examination and procedure rooms between patients.  

• Collaborate with providers and clinical staff to ensure efficient patient flow and an exceptional patient experience. 

• Prepare treatment and procedure rooms before and after patient visits.  

• Assist with vein procedures, patient preparation, and room turnover.  

• Ensure supplies, instruments, and equipment are stocked and functioning properly.  

• Maintain accurate and timely EMR documentation.  

• Review charts for required forms, consents, and documentation.  

• Follow HIPAA, OSHA, infection control, and safety protocols.  

• Collaborate with providers, RVTs, medical assistants, and administrative staff.  

• Cross Train on Front Desk Duties 

• Support clinic operations and perform other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications  

• High school diploma or equivalent.  

• Completion of a Medical Assistant, Medical Technician, Patient Care Technician, EMT, or related healthcare training program, or equivalent experience. 

• Strong customer service and communication skills 

• Proficiency with computers and EMR systems  

 Preferred:  

• Previous experience in a specialty medical practice or outpatient clinic.  

• CMA, RMA, EMT, or equivalent credentials.  

• CPR/BLS certification.
