THE ROLE

Mint House is seeking a dynamic, hands-on Chief Engineer to lead the maintenance operations across all Nashville properties. You will be the operational backbone, ensuring our buildings run seamlessly and our guests enjoy a flawless experience. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, loves cultivating a service-driven culture, and leads by example. Your leadership will ensure our properties are in top condition, setting the standard for guest satisfaction and operational excellence.

AT MINT HOUSE YOU WILL

  • Manage and mentor a dedicated maintenance team across multiple buildings, providing hands-on training, support, and guidance to deliver efficient, high-quality service. Step in when needed to perform maintenance tasks during peak demand periods, demonstrating a strong commitment to team success.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive preventative maintenance and capital expense plan, ensuring all building systems, amenities, and guest rooms remain in peak condition.
  • Oversee the operation and maintenance of fire and life safety systems, HVAC, plumbing, elevators, electrical systems, and sprinklers, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and minimizing downtime.
  • Maintain fire alarm and suppression systems, conduct routine inspections, and ensure compliance with local and national fire codes. Lead emergency responses, including fire, evacuation, and equipment failures, ensuring swift action to protect guests and staff.
  • Manage exterior building maintenance, landscaping, and groundskeeping, including an outdoor swimming pool, ensuring all outdoor spaces are well-kept, safe, and inviting.
  • Implement and oversee a proactive pest control management plan, ensuring a clean and comfortable environment for guests and team members.
  • Perform or oversee general repair work, including carpentry, painting, drywall, and small-scale plumbing or electrical fixes to keep all properties in top shape.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with vendors, contractors, and suppliers to ensure cost efficiency, timely repairs, and accurate billing. 
  • Manage maintenance supplies, inventory, and budget adherence to maximize operational efficiency.
  • Work closely with Housekeeping, Guest Services, and Sales to create and execute a comprehensive maintenance service plan tailored to each property’s unique needs
  • Ensure all maintenance operations align with health, safety, and industry best practices, creating a safe environment for both guests and employees.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Minimum 6 years of experience as a maintenance technician and at least 1 year in a management/supervisory role. Strong preference for candidates with experience in hotels, boutique properties, or residential buildings.
  • Extensive knowledge of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems, including HVAC, elevators, and Fire & Life Safety Systems
  • Experience with pool and spa systems, including routine maintenance, water quality management, and equipment troubleshooting.
  • Strong background in building operations, including pest control management, handyman services, and exterior building maintenance.
  • Proficiency in hotel management software, Google Workspace (G Suite), Excel, and Operto Teams is preferred.
  • Exceptional people management skills with experience in scheduling, hiring, training, and overseeing staff and third-party vendors.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; must have personal transportation for travel between properties.
  • A calm demeanor under pressure with a guest-centric attitude and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Flexibility to respond to after-hours emergencies is preferred.
  • Physical ability to lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects up to 25 pounds without assistance.

Compensation: This position offers a competitive hourly rate ranging from $40.00 to $43.00 per hour, based on experience and certifications.
