About the Role:

Misfits Market is seeking an experienced, hands-on, and mission-aligned IT Manager to lead and oversee all information technology operations within our dynamic fulfillment center. This critical role involves managing the IT infrastructure, systems, and support services that are essential to our unique operations, which include handling perishable goods, managing a constantly evolving inventory of "misfit" products, and supporting our "Fulfilled by Misfits (FBM)" B2B services. The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem-solver, passionate about leveraging technology to drive efficiency, support our sustainability goals, and ensure the smooth operation of a fast-paced, temperature-controlled environment. You will be instrumental in supporting our core values of "Prioritizing our Customers," "Thinking Differently," and "Doing more with less."

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaboration: Work closely with fulfillment center operations staff, other IT team members (remote and local), and external vendors to ensure seamless IT support and project execution.  Actively engage in Operations process improvement discussions to ensure that IT is involved at project inception.
  • Infrastructure & Systems Management: Oversee, maintain, and optimize all IT infrastructure, including servers, networks (LAN/WAN/WLAN), telecommunications, desktops, laptops, mobile devices (including finger scanners and RF devices), printers, and specialized fulfillment center hardware.
  • WMS & Operational Systems: Manage and provide expert support for our comprehensive Warehouse Management System (WMS), in-house built technologies, order processing systems, inventory control systems (critical for perishable goods, FEFO/FIFO logic, and dynamic SKU management), and shipping/logistics software. Ensure seamless integration with other enterprise systems.
  • Technical Support & Team Leadership: Lead IT projects and foster a culture of proactive support, rapid response, and excellent customer service for all fulfillment center staff. Manage helpdesk tickets and ensure timely resolution of issues.
  • Perishable Goods & Cold Chain Technology: Ensure the reliability and accuracy of systems supporting our cold chain logistics, including temperature monitoring systems and environmental controls, to maintain product quality and minimize spoilage.
  • Cybersecurity & Data Integrity: Implement and enforce robust cybersecurity measures to protect company data, customer information, and IT assets. Ensure compliance with relevant data privacy and food safety regulations.
  • Project Management & Implementation: Lead IT projects related to system upgrades, new technology deployments (including automation), and process improvements that enhance operational efficiency, reduce waste, and support company growth.
  • Vendor & Stakeholder Management: Manage relationships with IT vendors, service providers, and consultants. Collaborate closely with Operations, Logistics, Procurement, Quality Assurance, and other departments to understand their evolving IT needs and deliver effective solutions.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain comprehensive documentation of IT systems, network architecture, configurations, processes, and support procedures.
  • On-Call Support: Will be required to participate in an on-call rotation for after-hours and weekend support.
  • Continuous Improvement & Innovation: Champion a culture of continuous improvement by staying current with emerging technologies in logistics, e-commerce, and food supply chain management. Identify and propose innovative IT solutions to enhance efficiency, reduce food waste, and support Misfits Market's mission.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting a wide range of hardware (PCs, scanners, printers, mobile devices) and software issues.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive IT experience, preferably within a fulfillment center, warehouse, food distribution, or manufacturing environment dealing with perishable goods.
  • Familiarity with Android OS devices.
  • Proven experience managing and supporting complex Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
  • Understanding of network infrastructure (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, firewalls, switches, access points) and wireless technologies in a warehouse setting.
  • Proficiency in managing Windows Server environments, virtualization technologies (e.g. Hyper-V), and cloud services.
  • Demonstrated leadership, team-building, and mentoring skills.
  • Exceptional problem-solving, analytical, and critical-thinking abilities, with a knack for "thinking differently" to find solutions.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills, with the ability to "move deliberately and quickly" to address issues.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth startup environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • A genuine passion for Misfits Market's mission to reduce food waste and improve food accessibility.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with IT systems supporting cold chain logistics and temperature-controlled environments.
  • Experience with Pick-to-Light or similar order fulfillment technologies.
  • Experience with data analytics tools and leveraging data to drive operational improvements and waste reduction.
  • Knowledge of SQL and database management.
  • Experience with automation technologies used in fulfillment centers.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Network+/Security+, PMP, ITIL).

Work Environment:

This role is based in one of our fulfillment centers. The position involves a mix of office-based work and hands-on support on the fulfillment center floor, which is a temperature-controlled environment. Flexibility for occasional evening or weekend work is required for critical system support or project implementations.
