Director of Analytics and Data Engineering
Job Summary:
The Director of Analytics and of Data Engineering will report to the COO and partner cross functionally with all of the other leaders within the business. This role is responsible for leading the ongoing development of the business intelligence ecosystem (Looker) and data infrastructure (Matillion & Snowflake). In the early days in this role you will be primarily a “doer” and over time transition into more of a leader as you build out the team that will support the future growth of the company’s data and analytics infrastructure.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data engineering, business intelligence and a passion for working with data. Until the team is expanded…in this role they will also create concise and clear reports, visualizations, dashboards, and metrics that provide business insight and aid business decision making. Leveraging our data, you’ll produce reports and perform meaningful quantitative or qualitative analysis addressing impactful business issues. Combining these reports with subject-matter expertise you’ll deliver coherent, insightful takeaways and advice. You skillfully navigate advanced, complex technical projects or business issues requiring state of the art technical or industry knowledge.
What You’ll Do:
- Develop a strong understanding of our business, existing data ecosystem and future reporting needs.
- Work with senior leadership to define, establish and refine our reporting strategy and scalability.
- Consults with end users to understand data project requirements, scope, and objectives.
- Design, build, and maintain scalable ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) pipelines to support the buildout of the company’s data warehouse using tools such as Matillion & Snowflake
- Lead, architect, design data solutions to integrate data from new data sources into our analytics ecosystem (including schema design / updates, connector setup etc)
- Use advanced SQL to transform, merge, and cleanse data from source systems into analytics ready schema’s
- Implement QA processes to ensure source data is clean is clean and correct
- Implement dashboards and other BI reports (using Looker) to provide access for business end users to the company’s data.
- You will identify the best methods of data visualization so our team can have a constant pulse on the health of our business and make data driven decisions
- Analyze and interpret data to make and present recommendations to the business.
- Utilize ticketing systems to quantify and qualify the priority of projects and potential ROI. Responsible for (data and analytics related) project management and reporting.
- Ongoing professional development to maintain industry and technical skills, and subject matter expertise in business intelligence and data visualization.

Your Creds:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Experience:
- 7-10 years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, business intelligence or a related role.
- Proven experience with ETL processes, data warehousing, and big data technologies.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
- Technical Skills:
- Expert level proficiency in SQL. Demonstrated proficiency building and managing data pipelines and transformations using tools such as Matillion, DBT, Fivetran, Airflow
- Experience working with enterprise cloud-based data warehouse technologies (e.g., Snowflake, Azure, Redshift, BigQuery).
- Strong comfort level in building out BI reporting / dashboards using a tool such as Looker, Tableau, Qlik, PowerBI
- Comfortable with version control (e.g. Git)
- Familiarity with data modeling, schema design, and data governance best practices.
- Soft Skills:
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
