
Coordinator, ABS Operations
The Coordinator, ABS Operations, will assist the Senior Manager, ABS Operations, in all aspects of game coverage, operations and support of the Automated Balls & Strikes program and related pitch- and player tracking programs. Candidates must have a strong knowledge of baseball, a high degree of comfort with current and emerging technologies, and extreme attention to detail and procedure. Work generally takes place during baseball game hours, which includes weekday evenings and weekend days, so candidates are required to be flexible in scheduling.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate hiring and training of part-time staff, including on-site training in Major League Baseball and Minor League Baseball venues
- Oversee part-time support personnel and in-venue operators, and coordinate game-night coverage with other areas of ABS and Tracking Operations
- Participate in software testing and interface development and create system documentation and training materials
- Troubleshoot software and/or hardware bugs and issues and resolve or escalate appropriately to internal stakeholders and/or technology partners
- Monitor tracking cameras, video delivery systems and other equipment to resolve and/or escalate issues as necessary
- Manage post-game data validation checks and prepare post-game reports
- Manage pre-game batting practice tracking and other non-game workouts with MLB clubs
- Maintain contacts with Club personnel and coordinate maintenance and other in-stadium access needs
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of the processes and protocols of ABS and Tracking operations
- Other responsibilities as determined by the Senior Director, Tracking Operations or Vice President, Data Operations or their designees
Qualifications & Skills
- Exceptional (and demonstrable) knowledge of baseball and its rules
- A minimum of seven (7) years’ experience working for a Major League Baseball club or other professional sports club, or with a similar sports league or media entity, or a minimum of three (3) years’ experience working directly in ABS Operations at MLB
- Experience with camera, radar and/or LIDAR-based object tracking technologies and their applications in sports'Strong computer proficiency (Windows OS and Windows-based software) and the ability to quickly learn and operate new software
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to concisely and clearly convey relevant information to different audiences
- Extremely detail oriented and thorough, and able to reliably and consistently perform repetitive tasks
- Self-motivated, with the ability to complete job tasks and requirements with (at times) minimal supervision
- A "team player" with a great attitude, including but not limited to the ability to work closely and cooperatively with multiple departments within our company, as well as Clubs and business partners
- Regular availability to work shifts at night, and on weekends and holidays, as necessary
- Availability for periodic work-related travel to MLB venues and work-related events
