About The Role

As VP of People, you will be the strategic and operational owner of the entire employee lifecycle at Mochi. This includes hiring, onboarding, performance, development, engagement, and culture. You will be a key partner to the executive team and a trusted resource for managers and individual contributors across the company.

You will roll up your sleeves to build scalable systems, while also setting the long-term People strategy that supports our growth.

What You’ll Do

  • Partner with the executive team on org design and headcount
  • Turn company goals into clear people plans and priorities
  • Spot issues early and recommend simple, scalable solutions
  • Own the bar for who we hire and how we hire
  • Build structured, fair, and fast hiring processes
  • Work with managers and external partners to fill critical roles
  • Run performance cycles, goal setting, and calibrations
  • Help managers give direct, useful feedback
  • Make expectations, levels, and growth paths clear
  • Design compensation and benefits that are fair and competitive
  • Oversee HRIS, payroll, benefits, and policy hygiene
  • Put in systems that are simple, reliable, and easy to follow
  • Protect and evolve Mochi’s culture as we grow
  • Build programs that increase engagement and reduce churn
  • Keep us compliant across states and regions
  • Handle sensitive issues with judgment, care, and discretion
  • Reduce people risk through clear policies and good communication

Who You Are

  • 10+ years in HR or People roles, ideally in startups or growth companies
  • 5+ years in a senior people leadership role (Head of People, VP of People, or similar)
  • Loves clean systems and clear ownership
  • Comfortable running many processes at once
  • Brings order without adding unnecessary process
  • Builds trust quickly at every level
  • Explains the “why” behind people decisions
  • Handles hard conversations directly and respectfully
  • Uses metrics to track org health, hiring, and engagement
  • Iterates based on what the data and people are saying
  • Seeks feedback and acts on it
  • Has owned both talent and employee experience
  • Knows what great looks like in a remote or hybrid team
  • Turns one-off fixes into simple, repeatable playbooks

The base salary for this full-time position ranges from $200,000 to $250,000, in addition to equity and benefits. The salary range listed in each job posting represents the minimum and maximum targets for new hire salaries across all locations. Actual compensation within this range is determined by various factors, such as job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, and location.

Workplace Policy

Mochi Health is an in-person company based in San Francisco, CA. Our team works together in person five days a week to foster collaboration, innovation, and strong connections. We believe that face-to-face interaction builds a culture of excellence and allows us to deliver the best outcomes for the patients and providers we serve.

For office-based roles, the standard schedule is Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Actual hours may vary depending on business needs and role responsibilities. All employees receive meal and rest breaks in accordance with applicable state and local laws.

For designated remote roles, this in-person policy does not apply.
