Role Overview
The Temporary Data Analyst will collect, clean, organize and analyze data from various sources in order for the Procurement Department to make better informed recommendations concerning vendor spend, travel spend, CO2 travel emissions, staff expenditures, credit card use, and MSF USA assets. The Data Analyst will categorize and classify data based on predefined criteria or guidelines.
Department Accountabilities
Procurement
The procurement department implements policies, procedures, and systems that support the organization’s procurement and management of goods and services. Procures quality goods and services at competitive prices while ensuring that the organization has the resources needed to succeed at a cost that maximizes value and a process that minimizes risk. The department manages the procurement process which includes identifying needs, setting terms, selecting vendors, negotiating and purchasing, delivering, and post-purchase assessment. The department works together to regulate the procurement process and align organizational objectives, goals, and budgets.
Facilities Management
Oversee operations of the organization’s US facilities. Conduct regular needs assessments, coordinate and implement planned and unplanned maintenance services and projects, and Manage oversight of the programming and operation of the mechanical, security, and life-safety system. Maintain building/county and state rules and regulations and respond to FDNY and DOH inspections for the NY office.
Budgeting and Costing
Establish and use financial plans to achieve organizational objectives, including monitoring and analyzing financial data to identify deviations from targets.
Operations Management
Execute and manage production or operations using predetermined protocols and procedures to achieve specified operational performance standards.
Operational Compliance
Adhere to internal policies, procedures, and external standards, including regulatory and voluntary codes of conduct, to minimize business risk and protect the organization's reputation.
Stakeholder Engagement
Systematically identify, analyze, plan, and implement actions designed to engage with external and/or internal stakeholders to create positive relationships by appropriately managing their expectations and agreed objectives.
Roles Specific Outcomes
The Data Analyst will create Excel spreadsheets created from the following sources:
- Credit card transactions from credit card provider, Bank of America
- Expense management reports from expense tool, Certify
- Travel, hotel, incidentals, and CO2 emissions reports from Travel Management Company, Globespan
- MSF USA inventory spreadsheets
Some of the reports required are:
- Travel
- Total travel spend
- Total airline spend
- Total hotel spend
- Other incidentals (car, meals, etc.)
- Destinations
- Total by traveler
- Total by MSF USA departments
- Total CO2 expenditure; by traveler; by department
- All Other Expenses
- By type of expense
- By credit card holder
- By vendor
Once the data is organized and analyzed, the Data Analyst will create charts, graphs, and other data visualization tools to identify patterns and trends in the data to better communicate recommendations on corrective actions, new policies, or better/different collection methods and reporting tools.
The Data Analyst should be able to easily communicate about the collection methods used, how the data was used to answer the questions asked and how the visualizations were created.

Supervisory Responsibility Director of Procurement & Facilities Services Desired Qualifications & Experience |
- Bachelor’s or associate degree in a related field (e.g., Information Technology, Information Management, Computer Science) or 1-2 years of relevant work experience
- Previous experience with data organization, data entry, or related tasks
- Strong computer and data analytical skills, including ability to use MS Word, Excel, Power Point, and database software and tools
- Knowledge of travel and expense management is a plus
- Strong attention to detail and data accuracy
- Ability to work independently and meet project deadlines
- Flexibility and ability to plan and prioritize multiple tasks
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook Email are required

Compensation
$78,399 to $117,599; new employees will be compensated from the minimum to midpoint based on experience
