Quality Engineer
About the role
Muon Space seeks a Quality Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate is a seasoned professional passionate about aerospace manufacturing, with a strong commitment to production and quality assurance. You will play a key role in developing, implementing, and maintaining our quality programs, ensuring our products meet the highest standards of accuracy, security, and safety.
Responsibilities
- Inspection and Testing: Plan, execute, and oversee the inspection and testing of spacecraft components and systems to verify conformance with specifications and deliverables. Assist the production team in tracking, documenting, and reporting quality levels.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain and lead nonconformity and corrective action record tracking systems, including root-cause analysis. Document quality assurance activities with internal reporting and audits. Create and maintain quality control documentation, including inspection records, test reports, and non-conformance reports.
- Process Improvement: Analyze manufacturing and assembly processes to identify areas where quality can be improved and help implement corrective actions.
- Compliance and Standards: Ensure that all processes adhere to industry standards (e.g., ISO, AS9100) and regulatory requirements specific to aerospace and spacecraft manufacturing.
- Data Analysis: Collect and analyze data from tests, inspections, and audits to monitor quality trends and provide insights to improve product quality, utilizing quality management software or data analysis platforms.
- Collaboration and Training: Work closely with engineers and other team members to address quality issues and implement solutions. Provide training and support to team members, focusing on systems, policies, procedures, and core processes.
- Quality Assurance Program Development: Interpret, build upon, and comply with the company's quality assurance standards. Develop and implement new standards for production and design.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
- Deep knowledge of quality assurance terminology, methods, and tools.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), part & document control, and defect management processes.
- Professional certification, such as Six Sigma, CQE (certified quality engineer), or CQA (certified quality auditor).
- Proficiency in software for data management and reporting, including MES & PLM.
- Familiarity with aerospace industry standards such as AS9100, ISO 9001, or similar.
- Experience in a cleanroom manufacturing environment related to aerospace or engineering, or a highly regulated environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Salary
The salary range for this role is $112K - $167K and will depend on a candidate's skills, geographic location, qualifications, and experience as defined during the interview process.
