Roles and Responsibilities

  • Core competency—Wide networking with mills, material suppliers and traders in India and relevant overseas suppliers and techno commercial sense for knits and woven fabrics for menswear and women’s wear for all occasions.
  • Equal strength on natural, man-made and blended fabrics from all major regions of the country.
  • Should be able to get most competitive price from different places to ensure to get best value at a price.
  • To follow up internally from greige fabric to process fabric and ensure fabric on time with right quality.
  • Should be able to manage the environment with all stockiest and traders for regular presentation and selections by design/ category teams.
  • Should be able to understand and capture the futuristic trends and collaborate with different functions to build supply chains for core, fashion and seasonal requirement.
    • Should have an understanding on platforming fabrics for the qualities greatly in use month and month and monitoring the stock and manage threshold and fresh ordering.
    • Should understand quality protocols to be followed and ensure adherence of the same.
    • To cross check SOPs of department at various levels
    • Ensure weekly recap on the status with the dept-purchase & PPC.
  • Signing all approvals for fabric and trims.
  • Executes seasonal and short-term sourcing plans, utilizing knowledge of material sourcing to meet business financial, customer service, quality, aesthetic, safety and terms-of-engagement requirements.
    Must communicate capacity and price requirements to meet business margin and delivery requirements.
    · Must be able to provide alternatives to merchandising/design teammates to meet commercial requirements at the most competitive cost.
    · Would be involved in product execution from sketch to delivery, including fabrication
    alternatives, garment engineering, sample management.
    · Develops, manages and coaches a high-performing vendor team, ensuring current and future business needs are met.
    · “Go To Market” Accountability: Responsible for accurately tracking adoption rates, delivery of fabrics for proto/shoot/catalogue/PP samples to meet required targets. Is accountable for driving team to meet GTM deadlines. Uses communication and negotiation skills to influence Design and buying/Merchandising partners to achieve GTM milestones.
    · Analyses and calculate costs of procurement and suggest methods to decrease expenditure.

Qualifications & Experience
· 8-10 years of proven work experience in fabric development and Sourcing from India and overseas.
· Familiarity with sourcing and vendor management and relevant category.
· Understanding of market dynamics and sound business judgement.
· Ability to negotiate and sustain networking relationships.
· Comfortable with figures and in collecting, analysing and interpreting data.
· Degree in textiles is preferred.
