The Role:

The Cash Application Team Lead supervises, coaches, and reviews the work and performance of a team of Cash Application Specialists. This role manages the escalation of complex issues, handles complex reconciliations, and drives process improvements — combining hands-on people leadership with strong technical ownership of the cash application function.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Download incoming payment information from the bank, identify customers, and apply payments to customer invoices.
  • Export data from dashboards and analyze it for missing or inaccurate entries.
  • Research unapplied payments and drive them to resolution.
  • Respond to Collections and customer inquiries via Zendesk and Slack.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of four Cash Application Specialists.
  • Review and approve cash application activities performed by the team to ensure accuracy and adherence to company standards.
  • Oversee the daily cash application process, ensuring accurate and timely processing of customer payments.
  • Supervise the reconciliation of daily cash applications with bank statements, ensuring all discrepancies are identified and resolved promptly.
  • Act as the first point of escalation for the team, handling complex issues and ensuring efficient problem resolution. Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders as needed.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, implement best practices, and lead initiatives to enhance team efficiency and accuracy.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on cash application activities, team performance, and key metrics to management.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with AR, Brand Payments, Cash Operations, AOS, and IT to investigate and resolve payment discrepancies and system issues.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Proven experience in cash application, accounts receivable, or a related finance role, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or team lead position.
  • Experience with payment reversals, credit memos, and high-volume payment processing.
  • Advanced proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and develop team members.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in Excel (e.g., VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, SUMIF, pivot tables) and familiarity with accounting software (QuickBooks preferred).
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Experience in a remote work environment and a proactive approach to leadership and problem-solving.
