Associate Director, Biopharma Business Development
This role serves as an individual contributor and a pivotal leader within Natera’s pharma services division. The incumbent collaborates with pharmaceutical, biotech, medical institutions, and clinical research organizations to expand business with existing clients while forging new relationships. It offers high visibility within the organization, including executive leadership, with ample opportunities for career advancement. By leveraging Natera’s clinical trial enrollment and data licensing programs, the individual plays a crucial role in facilitating life-saving treatment options for patients with rare diseases and chronic kidney diseases. We seek a motivated, ambitious self-starter adept at synthesizing and articulating technical information, and proficient in negotiating and closing multi-million dollar deals with Pharma.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Drive business development in pharma services, focusing on clinical trial services and data licensing in rare diseases and chronic kidney disease.
- Contribute to the direction of rare disease programs by incorporating the voice of the customer to facilitate the expansion of product offerings.
- Act as the primary representative of Natera to pharmaceutical companies, liaising across various organizational levels from computational biologists to executive leadership.
- Collaborate with Natera’s scientific, operations, and leadership teams to develop and present compelling proposals.
- Analyze potential opportunities, devise sales strategies, and create account plans.
- Lead the negotiation process, draft term sheets, and oversee the completion of contractual procedures.
- Maintain a strong presence within customer organizations, ensuring regular communication and monitoring of customer satisfaction.
- Plan and coordinate all customer meetings and manage follow-up activities post contract closure.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated track record of leading and closing strategic collaboration and licensing agreements.
- Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, life sciences, pharmacy, or related field required; MBA or Ph.D. preferred.
- Industry experience in diagnostics, software, life sciences, or private equity/venture capital.
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in business development.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Exceptional communication skills to build credibility with executive leadership of partners and collaborators.
- Strong analytical abilities with comfort in dealing with scientific data and numerical information.
- Attention to detail and passion for driving change in medicine while delivering tangible results.
- Proven ability to manage client relationships effectively.
- Strong skills in relationship development, communication, and negotiation.
