Senior Accounting Manager
POSITION SUMMARY:
We are seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Senior Accounting Manager to join our growing finance team and help support the continued expansion of our global business. This person will oversee our accounts receivable general ledger team and will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely closing of the monthly books, assist with the quarterly/annual filings/audits and SOX compliance, and will innovate to improve and drive efficiencies through continued evaluation of our systems and business processes.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work closely with accounts receivable manager to effectively mentor, motivate, and manage remote team of 6, providing high level oversight of daily operations to ensure timely completion of monthly tasks related to month-end close
- Review, monitor, design and implement operational procedures, processes and enhancements that improve the team’s overall efficiency
- Serve as liaison between AR (Finance), revenue, RCM (Billing/Collections), sales and legal/compliance teams to streamline and strengthen processes and help drive timely resolution of identified issues or process enhancements
- Work closely with RCM and sales teams to analyze allowance for doubtful accounts; help improve collections; reduce billing discrepancies; and resolve customer account inquiries in a timely manner
- Monthly, review journal entries and balance sheet account reconciliations for respective accounts receivables accounts
- Quarterly, work with AR manager to provide flux analysis explanations on respective accounts receivable and revenue accounts
- Oversee timely completion of SOX controls related to AR on a monthly and quarterly basis
- Assist internal and external auditors in gathering information requested pertaining to quarterly and annual filings
- Work with IT team for implementations and conversions of operating systems and lead/perform user acceptance testing (UAT) for enhancements to AR general ledger functional areas
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Intermediate understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) required;
- CPA preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or equivalent required
- 2+ years working in a publicly traded company and with SOX controls required
- 8+ years general ledger accounting experience required
- 5+ years management experience required
- Strong people skills and can work collaboratively across departments, including international teams across time zones
- Clear understanding of accounting adjustments and ability to assess impact on the financial statements
- Ability to understand service agreements with customers and impact on revenue recognition (ASC 606)
- Ability to mentor and develop junior members on team
- Experience with bad debt and CECL reserve estimates
- Experience with helping build out new tooling and systems to streamline processes
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills required
- Experience using Oracle Fusion preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Ability to work in a dynamic fast paced environment, successfully juggling multiple entities, projects, and deliverables
