Floater Phlebotomist Data Entry Analyst - Silver Spring, MD
- Perform blood draws and other specimen collections following standard procedures and protocols.
- Ensure the comfort and safety of patients during specimen collection.
- Accurately label, document, and process specimens for transport to laboratories.
- Maintain compliance with all health and safety regulations, including infection control.
- Travel between assigned locations to provide phlebotomy services as needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized and fully stocked phlebotomy workspace.
Data Entry and Analysis:
- Enter patient, specimen, and test information into laboratory information systems (LS) with high accuracy.
- Receive, review and enter patient data into laboratory information systems (LIS) with high accuracy.
- Review and verify data to ensure completeness and correctness.
- Compile, organize, and analyze data for reporting purposes.
- Identify and correct data discrepancies or escalate issues a necessary.
- Maintain confidentiality and security of patient and organizational data in accordance with HIPAA and other regulations.
- Complete data entry in a scheduled, timely manner.
- Collaborate with management and internal teams to implement and evaluate improvements.
- Understand and validate record keeping processes.
- Understand healthcare operations and systems
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a relevant field preferred.
- Certification in phlebotomy (if required by state)
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in phlebotomy and data entry (experience in a healthcare setting preferred).
- Minimum of 2 years of IOP experience.
Skills and Competencies:
- Proficient in phlebotomy techniques and comfortable working with diverse patient populations.
- Strong typing and date entry skills with high accuracy and attention to detail.
- Familiarity with EMR/LIS systems and Google Workspace.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and manage time effectively in dynamic environments.
- Reliable transportation and willingness to travel between locations.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills.
- Outstanding organizational and problem-solving aptitude.
Physical Demands and Working conditions:
- Ability to stand, walk, and use hands for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry equipment or supplies weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Flexibility to work different shifts as assigned.
- Flexibility to work at different locations as assigned.
