INTRO TO POSITION
NPM is seeking a Digital Media Planning Associate to join our Digital Ad Operations team in supporting corporate sponsorships. This team partners closely with NPR’s sales organization to develop strategic digital sponsorship proposals for campaigns across NPR’s digital platforms — including Tiny Desk, NPR.org, the NPR App, and popular podcasts like Up First, TED Radio Hour, Planet Money, Wait Wait…Don’t Tell Me!, and Fresh Air.
The ideal candidate is passionate about digital media and sponsorship. You’re analytical and strategic, with the ability to recommend the most effective mix of NPR digital products for each client. You should be comfortable working with data and formulas in Microsoft Excel. Strong communication skills are essential, as you’ll regularly convey proposal details and decisions to the sales team.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create digital media proposals ranging from $20K to $2M in an order management system, using to clients’ audience targets and objectives to customize plans
- Juggle a high-volume, fast-paced workload—often generating or updating 4+ proposals per business day across a variety of accounts
- Pull ad inventory availability in ad servers like Megaphone and Google Ad Manager
- Analyze inventory sell-through rates to steer clients toward underutilized digital products
- Manage time-sensitive proposal revisions and campaign optimizations, recommending alternative placements to prevent revenue loss
- Translate proposals into agency-provided Excel templates with high attention to detail
- Build foundational knowledge of emerging podcast ad tech

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- 2-4 years of work experience, preferably in ad operations or a similar field
- Must be proficient in MS Excel
- Outstanding attention to detail for quality assurance purposes, and the ability to manage multiple priorities at a time
- Ability to collaborate on a team of 20+ people in a fast-paced environment with large amounts of revenue at stake
- Proven ability for project management and excellent written and verbal communication skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with ad-serving platforms (i.e. Google Ad Manager, Megaphone, Adswizz) and order management systems (i.e. Boostr) is a plus
- Enthusiasm for public media, its mission and its programs
EDUCATION REQUIREMENT
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in work experience
WORK LOCATION
- Remote Permitted: This is a remote permitted role. This role is based out of our Washington, DC office but the employee may choose to work on a remote basis from a location that NPR approves.
Candidates must be located in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Washington, D.C., Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, or Virginia for the duration of the position.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Project Management: Must have project management experience and excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to collaborate on a large team in a fast-paced environment with large amounts of money at stake.
- Numbers-Focused: Must be proficient in MS Excel and comfortable working with math, formulas and data.
- Organization Skills: Must have attention to detail, ability to work efficiently independently, and capacity to manage multiple priorities at a time.
JOB TYPE
- This is a full time, exempt position.
COMPENSATION
Salary Range: The U.S. based anticipated salary range for this opportunity is $59,000-$61,000 plus benefits. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum salaries NPR expects to provide for new hires for the position across all US locations.
Benefits: NPR offers access to comprehensive benefits for employees and dependents. Regular, full-time employees scheduled to work 30 hours or more per week are eligible to enroll in NPR’s benefits options.
