Trading Assistant, Risk Retention

THE OPPORTUNITY

Nearwater's Risk Retention team is hiring a Trading Assistant / Jr. Trader to support trade execution, booking, and settlement across the team's ABS, CLO, CMBS, and RMBS financing positions. You will work closely with senior traders and the broader Capital Markets and Liquid Markets desks to ensure trades are executed, confirmed, and settled accurately and on time.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Support trade execution and booking across Risk Retention financing and securities positions
• Confirm trade details with counterparties and internal stakeholders, resolving discrepancies quickly
• Track positions, settlements, and cash movements, escalating breaks to senior traders
• Coordinate with Operations and Settlements on trade lifecycle events
• Maintain accurate trade and position records across internal systems
• Support ad hoc market and portfolio analysis for the trading desk

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Required

• 1–2 years of hands-on experience as a trading assistant or in a junior trading role, specifically in fixed income cross-product trading
• Strong attention to detail and comfort working with numbers under time pressure
• Proficiency in Excel
• Clear communicator who can flag issues early and follow through to resolution

Preferred

• CLO or CMBS trading experience in particular
• Exposure to ABS, RMBS, or other structured credit products
• Familiarity with trade settlement processes and market conventions
• Experience with Enfusion or a similar trading/order management system
