Manufacturing Engineer

Who we are

Neros is transforming a defense industry mired in costly, behemoth machinery—to circumvent a looming vulnerability gap, to give dismounted soldiers a fighting chance against tanks, and ultimately, to get as many humans off the battlefield as possible.

While consumer technology is evolving by bounds on the smaller-cheaper-better path, U.S. defense technology wallows in the large, centralized, and wildly expensive paradigm. Our air, land, and sea machinery budget is staggering; yet these large assets can still be vulnerable to very small weapons. When swarm technology comes into its own, the asymmetry will escalate. Nowhere is the pattern more glaring than in small unmanned aerial systems (sUAS)—drones.

What you will be doing

As a Manufacturing Engineer at Neros, you will own key components of our products, starting from the conceptual design phase all the way through production. This is a dynamic and exciting role at a rapidly growing startup and will report directly to the Head of Engineering.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Own all aspects of hardware and production cell design to optimize for manufacturability and cost
  • Design, develop and implement production tooling and equipment
  • Perform design of experiments to qualify production processes
  • Develop and refine processes and process documentation including build instructions, test and validation procedures, health and safety standards, and mBOMs
  • Participate in design reviews to drive design for manufacturing (DFM)
  • Create, maintain, and communicate detailed production plans and schedules to relevant teams
  • Analyze and resolve manufacturing issues and non-conformances
  • Develop, mentor, and train peers and colleagues

You should have the following

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in fast paced engineering/manufacturing environments
  • Ability to solve engineering problems through first principles thinking
  • Experience with a CAD software such as Solidworks or NX
  • Experience developing, designing, and improving tooling to optimize manufacturing/production lines
  • Overseen introduction and implementation of new products and manufacturing capabilities
