Your Opportunity

We're looking for a dynamic Vice Present, Customer Advocacy, who will lead all technical functions of Solution Consultants (SC), Solution Architects (SA), Technical Success Managers TSM) and Technical Support Engineers TSE) organizations across Japan.
As the technical country lead, you will own the technical strategy to drive growth, expansion and continued success in Japan. Reporting to the GVP and Country Manager, Japan, you will be accountable for overall technical performance of the business. If you're a proven and accomplished technical leader who is ready to scale revenue, build high-performing teams, and establish lasting customer relationships, we want to hear from you. The role requires a strong understanding of the Japanese market, excellent communication skills, and the ability to adapt the global business model to local culture and regulation
You will lead the team by example to become technical trusted advisors for our customers, helping our teams drive value and revenue growth at scale, by helping customers across Japan to understand business and technical value of New Relic.
What You’ll Do
Market strategy and growth: Develop and execute a Japan-specific go-to-market strategy in collaboration with the Japan CM that aligns with global objectives.
- Drive Revenue Growth: Drive new customer acquisition, platform expansion across all segments, delivering against sales targets, NRR, and ARR goals in partnership with your sales counterparts.
- Leadership: Lead, build, and coach high-performing customer advocacy teams, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence. Build, coach, and inspire teams, creating a culture of accountability, collaboration (協力), and excellence that reflects Japanese business values.
- Executive relationships: Cultivate and maintain trusted relationships with C-level executives at key accounts, acting as New Relic's primary senior technical leader in Japan and driving strategic, long-term partnerships.
- Drive Adoption: Drive value led customer interactions to drive sustainable usage of our platform which increases the number of engineers and teams who use New Relic at our customers, maturing their Observability practice, and helping them instrument more of their business critical applications to drive value.
- Drive Technical Excellence: Develop ongoing technical excellence within the Customer Advocacy team that delivers outstanding Points of View, and technical value to our customers.
- Inter-departmental collaboration: Work closely with other departments, including product, engineering, and executive leadership to ensure appropriate focus and investment in capability and business processes for the Japanese market including key product requirements
- Partner Ecosystem: Accelerate our partner ecosystem via strategic focus partners where we leverage our Customer Advocacy teams to drive further partner success
- Ongoing Improvement: Conduct weekly and monthly business reviews, meetings and training sessions to ensure ongoing improvement and best practice sharing
The Skills You'll Bring
We're seeking a results-oriented technical leader with deep Japan market expertise and a track record of building successful technical GTM organizations. You will have:
- Experience: 15+ years of technical sales experience with at least 10+ years experience in people management across first and second-line management.
- Proven Technical Leadership: A history of successfully leading a technology organization in the Japan market, with a clear record of achieving sustainable revenue growth across multiple segments.
- Strong Revenue Track Record: Demonstrated success building and scaling technical GTM organizations, with expertise in both new customer acquisition and account expansion strategies. Successful track record of partnering with enterprise sales leaders to drive significant revenue growth. Strong understanding of sales methodologies and alignment of technical point of view across MEDDPICC.
- Japan Market Expertise: Deep understanding of Japanese business culture, decision-making processes, and buying behaviors, with established relationships in the enterprise technology sector.
- Strategic vision: Demonstrated ability to create and execute bold, long-term technical strategies for regional growth.
- Strategic & Operational Balance: Ability to translate regional strategy into actionable local sales plans with strong operational execution.
- Independence and drive: Ability to operate independently and take initiative to drive consistent business growth.
- Technology: Strong technical acumen in cloud computing environments and an understanding of infrastructure monitoring, observability, and related technologies. Extensive experience in related technologies: Observability, AI (Generative, Ops, Agentic), ITSM, Cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP), DevOps, SRE, CI/CD
- Consumption: Specific experience in a Software Consumption focussed business
- Communication: Excellent executive communication, critical thinking & analytical skills
- Fluency: Native-level Japanese and business-level English required for effective communication with local customers and regional leadership.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent
