The Role
Nex is looking for a curious, detail-oriented Content Operations Intern to support the day-to-day financial and operational activities of our Content team.
Reporting to the Senior Content Operations Specialist, you will help organise and analyse operational data, track budgets and spending, maintain documentation, and support finance and operational risk management processes. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with data, investigating details, bringing structure to information, and finding better ways of working.
You will work closely with Content, Finance, Legal, and other cross-functional teams while gaining practical exposure to game and content operations.
What You Will Do
Financial and operational support
- Support budget tracking, spending analysis, forecasting updates, and variance reporting.
- Help reconcile costs across games, projects, vendors, and expense categories.
- Review data and supporting documents to identify missing, inconsistent, or unusual information.
- Assist with preparing regular financial and operational reports for stakeholders.
- Follow up on outstanding information, invoices, approvals, and action items
Data organisation and analysis
- Collect, clean, organise, and validate data from different sources.
- Drill into data to understand trends, discrepancies, and their underlying causes.
- Maintain spreadsheets, trackers, dashboards, and operational records.
- Prepare clear summaries and visualisations that help stakeholders understand the findings.
- Look for opportunities to simplify reporting and reduce repetitive manual work.
Invoice, licensing and subscription administration
- Support the tracking of purchase requests, approvals, invoices, and payment status by project.
- Maintain accurate records of tools, licences, subscriptions, vendors, costs, renewal dates, and project allocations.
- Check that invoices and supporting documents are complete and correctly categorised.
- Assist with renewal reviews, usage checks, and identification of duplicate or underused subscriptions.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders and vendors to collect required information and documentation.
Finance and operational risk management
- Support routine finance controls, data-quality checks, and process-compliance reviews.
- Help identify operational risks, process gaps, overdue items, and control exceptions.
- Maintain risk, issue, and action trackers and follow up with relevant owners.
- Assist in documenting controls and gathering evidence for reviews.
- Escalate discrepancies or potential risks to the Senior Content Operations Specialist.
Process improvement and documentation
- Document workflows and maintain SOPs, checklists, FAQs, and onboarding materials.
- Support improvements to intake, approval, tracking, and reporting processes.
- Help test new forms, trackers, dashboards, and automated workflows.
- Provide general coordination support across multiple Content Operations workstreams.
Should Have
- Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program at an accredited college or university.
- Desired Majors: Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, Data Analytics, Risk Management, or a related discipline.
- Strong interest in finance operations, operational risk, data analysis, or process improvement.
- Comfortable working with spreadsheets and willing to spend time organizing, checking, and drilling into detailed data.
- Analytical and curious, with a desire to understand not only what happened but also why.
- High attention to detail and a disciplined approach to accuracy and documentation.
- Able to manage multiple tasks, follow through on open items, and meet deadlines.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Proactive, dependable, and comfortable asking questions when information is unclear.
- Able to handle sensitive financial and commercial information responsibly.
- Comfortable operating in fast-paced, evolving environments; proactive and able to work autonomously.
Nice To Have
- Familiarity with budgeting, invoice processing, reconciliations, or financial controls.
- Experience with Google Sheets or Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and charts.
- Exposure to dashboards or workflow tools such as Notion, Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms.
- Interest in games, digital content, creative production, AI tools, or technology.
- Basic understanding of procurement, vendor management, licensing, or subscription services.
