Technical Data Program Manager

The NFL Data and Analytics (‘D&A’) team is seeking a Technical Data Program Manager (‘TDPM’) to partner with multiple business and technical teams.  The role of the TDPM resource is to leverage their knowledge of the Health and Safety products and data sets governed by the Data and Analytics team.  This knowledge will be required to steer programs and projects from inception through steady state operations.  The TDPM shall seek to take ownership of assigned projects and provide hands on support throughout the project lifecycles.  This includes activities such as requirements gathering, data quality management, implementation stages, QA/UAT execution, and keeping an open eye towards continuous improvements. 

The Data and Analytics team, supporting Player Health and Safety (‘PHnS’), is passionate about enabling the PHnS department to gain timely, valid and impactful insights to improve the safety of the game. The D&A TDPM will support the Director, Data Management and the Director, Data Technology to implement projects that govern, manage, and improve the quality of health and safety data. 

This role is onsite in our New York offices.  

Job Description:

  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of project management phases to ensure activities such as initiation tasks, requirements gathering, design, implementation management, QA, release management, and steady state run books are not neglected
  • Work very closely with the aforementioned Directors to support Health and Safety products and services that include:
    • Data governance products such as Monte Carlo
    • Web applications for data management
    • Tools to standardize master data usage (APIs, Services, etc.)
    • ETL frameworks supporting varied on premise and cloud-based infrastructures
  • Facilitate weekly sessions with key stakeholders to initiate and define project goals, scope, deliverables, resource allocation, and timelines
  • Collaborate with several senior stakeholders within Data and Analytics to prioritize, and determine internal resource capacity to ensure on-time completion of deliverables
  • Collaborate with external vendors/partners to ensure project deliverables stay on track
  • Govern and steer project resources throughout the project lifecycles.
  • Manage project activities using systematic tools for activity management, transparent reporting, and project scheduling (ex. Jira, DevOps, etc.)
  • Promote collaboration and leverage tools such as Confluence, Teams, SharePoint, and Project/Program management tools
  • Directly manage all steps of project delivery, focusing on project/project deadlines and providing strategic insight to potential risk or delays
  • Develop tools, best practices, and documentation for project/project management and related processes
  • Lead cross functional teams in a matrixed environment, influencing, supporting, and managing project resources.

Job Requirements:

  • BA/BS degree required
  • Degree in computer science or technology management preferred, or relevant project and data management experience.
  • 5-10 years of project management experience
  • Highest personal and professional integrity and strong work ethics.
  • Experience working with external vendors to facilitate and support their project workstreams
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams to deliver strategic and business goals
  • Capable of effectively managing multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic environment
  • Strong sense of purpose with a passion for living in the details and exceeding expectations
  • Problem-solver with solution-oriented attitude
  • Willingness to take charge, manage program/project team members, identify solutions, and provide direction
  • Process oriented and highly organized
  • Experience with generating and managing application support service level agreements
  • The ability to balance steady state operational management against new project demands
  • Experience using visual tools/technologies to ensure transparency in tracking project deliverables and key milestones
  • Has strong planning, communication, and presentation skills, and the capability to listen and influence.

Travel:  

  • >10% travel, domestic. 

Salary / Pay Range:

The NFL expects to hire for this position near the middle of the range. Only in truly rare and exceptional circumstances, where an external candidate has experience, credentials or expertise that far exceed those required or expected for the position, would the NFL consider paying a salary or rate near the higher end of the range.  

 

Salary

$130,000 - $180,000 USD
