Manager, Communications-Consumer Products
Reporting to the Director of Communications, this role manages communications for the league’s Consumer Products business while also contributing to the International communications team and supporting the league’s ambition and strategy to become a global sports property. Additionally, this role oversees communications for the NFL’s digital media partnerships as well as its IT/Tech work.
The ideal candidate will be experienced in a rapid consumer and brand environment, ready to jump in and serve a number of internal and external clients simultaneously.
Working in close partnership with the NFL’s Consumer Products, International, Digital Media and Business Development, and IT teams, this is a unique and exciting role that will help shape the league’s world-class business relationships and how they are viewed around the world.
Responsibilities:
- Manage Consumer Products Communication Strategy & Promotion: Drive all communications and promotions for the NFL’s Consumer Products business, building strategies that elevate NFL products, campaigns and messaging while working with key partners to boost awareness and sales across NFLShop.com and key retailers.
- Agency Management: Manage communications agency hired to support the Consumer Products business.
- As part of the International Communications team, build and deliver strategic communications plans to amplify the NFL’s presence in Canada and more broadly, the league’s global growth ambitions.
- Work closely with the league’s office in Toronto to support business objectives and deliver global growth themes and narratives across Canadian media.
- Promote the NFL’s Digital Media Partnerships: Provide communications support for Media Strategy and Business Development by promoting digital media deals, renewals and content partnerships. Create fresh announcement strategies that drive consumer, fan and trade press awareness, reinforcing the NFL’s leadership in fan engagement and sports content.
- Support IT/Tech Communications: Work closely with senior members of the IT team on press moments, including the NFL’s work with AI.
General:
- Working in partnership with communications colleagues in the league’s offices, and the 32 teams, to amplify broader NFL stories and moments, building functional excellence.
- Work with league executives and others external stakeholders on a regular basis.
- Serve as a trusted contact with media to help drive impactful, meaningful placements in high-profile national and international outlets.
- Cultivate and strengthen relationships with members of the media and influencers in key U.S. and international markets, and look to develop relationships with emerging news, sport, entertainment and fashion outlets members and non-sports outlets.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and 5 years' of experience in communications experience drawing from multiple disciplines including journalism, media relations and publicity.
- The ideal candidate has worked for a major brand or agency and has a pulse on cultural trends and what's shaping them through the lens of fashion, arts, sports and lifestyle.
- The ideal candidate is an adept storyteller with experience pitching both traditional and social first platforms.
- Strong written and verbal communications skills, excellent organizational skills and strong interpersonal skills.
- Excellent working knowledge of the communications industry including experience working in high-pressure situations for high-profile brands and leaders executing positive and proactive narratives.
- Successfully demonstrated ability to lead, participate in and support cross-departmental activities.
- Proven success in executing high-profile communications initiatives, and creativity in using new tactics and tools to communicate internally and externally to proactively generate compelling storytelling in new places and on new platforms to reach new and youth audiences.
- Previous experience in supporting a wider team with issues and crisis management.

Travel:
Regular travel to NFL events such as the Super Bowl and Draft.
Terms /Expected Hours of Work:
NFL employees are required to work a minimum of 40 hours per week in the office.
Salary / Pay Range

The NFL expects to hire for this position near the middle of the range. Only in truly rare and exceptional circumstances, where an external candidate has experience, credentials, or expertise that far exceed those required or expected for the position, would the NFL consider paying a salary or rate near the higher end of the range.
Salary
$95,000 - $115,000 USD
