Seasonal Film Archive Assistant

Overview /Objective

NFL Films Archival department seeks a responsible and organized individual, with an interest and knowledge in film.  The responsibilities will include but are not limited to research and restoration of our archives.  Film Vault maintenance and organization.

Responsibilities

  • Research and restoration of our film for archival purposes or producer requests.
  • Data entry in our film system.
  • Learning and utilizing the Neg Log database to identify and restore shots to original camera rolls for the purpose of scanning and archiving.
  • The employee will be expected to learn how to use our film cleaning system. This includes keeping film organized as it moves through the cleaning process, along with recognizing if the machines are not running properly.
  • They will be responsible for returning film to its location in the film vault, along with reorganizing and updating locations as we move through the archival project.
  • The employee will also be expected to have a level of flexibility. The projects we work on are ever evolving and our employees’ ability to evolve with updated priorities is very important.

Required Qualifications

  • Basic knowledge of Word and Excel is required.
  • Attention to detail when entering film data into our system.
  • A general understanding of film handling techniques. On the job training will be provided with the expectation that the techniques learned will be utilized at all times.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Arts in Film and Video, or Communications is preferred.
  • A general knowledge of the NFL and its history.

Other Key Attributes / Characteristics

  • Strong communication skills in a team environment, and a willingness to ask questions.
  • Strong organizational skills are needed in terms of organizing priorities, data, and time.

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to carry 25+ Lbs. up and down steps (pulling and returning film in the vault)

Travel

  • This position does not require any travel.

The NFL expects to hire for this position near the middle of the range. Only in truly rare and exceptional circumstances, where an external candidate has experience, credentials or expertise that far exceed those required or expected for the position, would the NFL consider paying a salary or rate near the higher end of the range. 

Terms / Expected Hours of Work

 

  • 40 per week, for 7 months from the start date
