Game Artist
Come join Nightdive Studios, the developer behind classic games including System Shock, Turok, and The Thing: Remastered. We are looking for talented individuals to grow our team.
We are looking for a Generalist, rather than a specialist to fill this role.
We are seeking a versatile artist who thrives in a dynamic studio environment where switching between diverse tasks is the norm. Ideal candidates will be adept at managing a variety of responsibilities, ranging from modeling and texturing to tech art and animation. On any given day, you might find yourself creating pre-rendered sprites from 3D models, adopting an early 2000s diffuse-only style, or employing techniques characteristic of early Xbox 360/PS3 era games, complete with normal maps and shaders. A significant part of your role will involve crafting handpainted textures from scratch, catering to varying project styles with minimal photosourcing.
If you are excited by these challenges and eager to bring versatility and creativity to our team, we encourage you to apply!

- Clearly communicate artistic vision to team members and project stakeholders, ensuring the vision is executed in the game.
- Ensure that all artwork meets the required quality and aesthetic standards.
- Work collaboratively with team members located overseas across different time zones.
- Make independent choices or initiate tasks when encountering obstacles.
- Provide professional feedback and suggestions for improving existing systems.
- Meet project deadlines with minimal turnaround time.
- Regularly engage and contribute to team communications using tools such as Discord, Notion, email, JIRA, and Asana.
- Collaborate with the quality assurance team to ensure standards and requirements are met.
Preferred Qualifications
- Self-motivated with an eagerness to acquire new skills.
- Able to work effectively with minimal supervision.
- Possesses excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Displays a growth mindset, is action-oriented, curious, and ego-free.
- Experience with Blender, the in-house tool of choice, is a plus.
- Experience in scripting/programming, modding, pixel art, particle effects, and animations is advantageous.
This role reports directly to the Art Director.
Compensation: $50k - $60k depending on experience
