Platform Solutions Engineer (Fintech/Payments)

We are seeking a Platform Solutions Engineer to join our growing team and support our Platform Sales motion. This is a high-impact, pre-sales engineering role focused on working with vertical SaaS platforms that each have unique and complex payment processing requirements.

As the technical counterpart to our sales team, you will play a critical role in architecting tailored solutions that span multiple product lines—including card-present, card-not-present, and unattended use cases, leveraging capabilities of several product lines including gateway and acquiring. Every deal is different, and every solution requires careful scoping and technical storytelling.

What You’ll Do:

  • Serve as the technical advisor and solution architect during the sales process for vertical SaaS platforms considering NMI.
  • Work closely with Business Development Representatives to understand customer requirements, present tailored solutions, and accelerate deal velocity.
  • Design and document custom payment architecture proposals that may include complex combinations of card-present, card-not-present, and unattended payment scenarios.
  • Produce and present solution design documents for each prospective partner, integrating multiple NMI product lines such as gateway services, acquiring, risk, and onboarding APIs.
  • Participate in technical discovery calls and product deep dives to align on customer needs, compliance constraints, and integration approaches.
  • Collaborate with Product, Operations, Risk, and Underwriting teams to ensure feasibility and alignment of proposed solutions.
  • Stay current on industry trends, competitor capabilities, and emerging technologies relevant to embedded payments and SaaS platforms.

What You Bring:

  • 3–5+ years in a pre-sales, solutions engineering, or technical consulting role—preferably in payments, fintech, or SaaS.
  • Strong understanding of payment processing, including card-present, card-not-present, tokenization, gateways, and acquiring.
  • Experience selling into or working with SaaS platforms (especially vertical SaaS or ISVs) with complex payment needs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into business value.
  • Demonstrated experience producing solution design documents or technical scoping materials.
  • Highly collaborative mindset with the ability to work cross-functionally across sales, product, and engineering.
