Senior Product Owner (Fintech/Payments)

Remote, US

As a Senior Product Owner at NMI, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the strategy for our next-generation platform foundation. You’ll guide multiple teams focused on building the services, infrastructure, and developer experiences that enable innovation across NMI’s ecosystem.

This role will initially focus on two critical areas:

  • Partner Activation - The Partner Activation team enables partners to integrate with NMI efficiently and effectively. The team develops and maintains developer tools, sandbox environments, and onboarding processes that support a wide range of partner types. Its primary objectives include increasing partner acquisition and reducing the time required for partners to achieve value through integration.
  • Partner Administration - The Partner Administration team is responsible for the shared platform layer that delivers a unified experience across NMI’s products. Its areas of focus include authentication, user management, design consistency, technical standards, and the presentation of features within a unified partner portal.

The Platform Services environment is hosted in AWS, leveraging modern cloud-native architecture to deliver scalability, reliability, and extensibility across NMI’s product suite.

At NMI, Product Owners are the driving force behind accountability, delivering products that truly meet customer needs and fuel business growth. In this role, you’ll own the execution of our strategy and roadmap — leading Agile events such as sprint and quarterly planning, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, retrospectives, prioritization, triage of production issues, and release planning.. You’ll be hands-on with product launches, making sure internal teams are equipped and excited about new capabilities. We’re looking for someone who brings a powerful mix of business insight and technical savvy, who sees the big picture but sweats the details to make it happen. If you love learning the ins and outs of your product, understanding your users deeply, and making smart, high-impact decisions, you’ll thrive here.

We’re passionate about creating products that deliver real value — and we’re looking for someone who shares that same energy!

Key Responsibilities

Product Ownership & Agile Execution

  • Prioritize and manage the product backlog for the teams, ensuring initiatives deliver maximum business and customer value.
  • Develop and present feature epics and user stories with clear acceptance criteria for new functionality across partner enablement and platform infrastructure.
  • Facilitate Agile events  including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily scrum, retrospectives, sprint showcases, and demos.
  • Collaborate with engineering, architecture, design, and DevOps teams to ensure technical solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with NMI’s AWS cloud strategy.
  • Conduct User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to validate that releases meet functional requirements and quality standards.
  • Define and validate Minimum Viable Products (MVPs) that incrementally deliver value while aligning with NMI’s strategic goals.
  • Collaborate with other Product Owners to align on cross-team dependencies, shared services, and platform integration points.
  • Partner with engineering and DevOps teams to define platform services and standards optimized for AWS infrastructure, ensuring scalability, performance, and cost efficiency.
  • Define and monitor KPIs and success metrics related to platform adoption, API utilization, ISV engagement, and partner onboarding.

Stakeholder Collaboration & Communication

  • Gather and translate stakeholder requirements from technical and non-technical teams into actionable product requirements.
  • Communicate product vision, upcoming work, and delivery timelines to stakeholders and executives transparently.
  • Partner with marketing, design, and partner success teams to drive the Partner onboarding journeys that drive sandbox engagement and self-service integration.
  • Provide enablement and product training for internal teams to ensure alignment on new capabilities and releases.
  • Maintain collaboration with data and analytics teams to create insights that drive data-informed product decisions.

Quality, Governance & Standards

  • Establish and champion API standards and governance frameworks that ensure consistent integration experiences across NMI’s ecosystem.
  • Partner with platform architects to ensure shared components (e.g., authentication, navigation, UX frameworks) align with enterprise guidelines.
  • Advocate for platform scalability, usability, and reliability across all services.
  • Ensure solutions adhere to AWS best practices for performance, availability, and security.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience as a Product Owner or Product Manager, ideally in platform, SaaS, or developer ecosystem environments.
  • Proven experience delivering API-driven products, developer platforms, or shared service infrastructure.
  • Experience delivering products built on modern cloud platforms, such as AWS, with awareness of how cloud capabilities enable customer value, speed, and resilience.
  • Experience with authentication and identity management (SSO, OAuth, JWT) and API lifecycle management.
  • Skilled in Agile development frameworks and tools (Jira, Confluence, Figma).
  • Excellent communication skills, with proven ability to bridge technical and business stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated success managing complex initiatives across multiple agile teams.
  • Experience coordinating software release cycles, QA processes, and documentation.
Passion for understanding end users and translating insights into actionable product enhancements.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with developer experience (DX) or partner enablement platforms.
  • Familiarity with microservices and modular architecture.
  • Experience working within fintech, payments, or platform-as-a-service (PaaS) domains.
  • Technical background or familiarity with cloud-native tooling (Terraform, CloudFormation) is a plus.

As well as being a part of something exciting everyday, you will also receive the following benefits:

  • Competitive salary + bonus
  • A remote first culture!
  • Flex PTO
  • Health, Dental and Vision Insurance
  • 13 Paid Holidays

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
