About Northbeam

Northbeam is building the world’s most advanced marketing intelligence platform, providing top eCommerce brands a unified view of their business data through powerful attribution modeling and customizable dashboards. Our technology helps customers accurately track ad spend, understand the full customer journey, and drive profitable growth.

We’re a remote-friendly company with offices in San Francisco and Los Angeles.

About the Role

We are seeking a Principal Data Scientist to own the science behind how we measure marketing effectiveness at scale. You will turn ambiguous attribution problems into reliable systems that drive confident business decisions, both across our organization and for our customers. This is a hands-on technical lead role where you'll advance the state-of-the-art in marketing measurement while ensuring our current systems deliver exceptional accuracy and reliability.

You will serve as the technical architect for attribution methodologies, experiment design, and statistical inference—balancing cutting-edge research with practical business impact. Working closely with engineering teams, you'll drive both the optimization of existing attribution systems and the development of next-generation capabilities including AI-powered measurement techniques.

Your Impact
  • Own and advance the statistical foundations of marketing-effectiveness measurement, ensuring methodologies are robust, reliable, and scalable.
  • Research, prototype, and deploy advanced attribution and AI models for marketing measurement.
  • Design and evolve complex data science models that balance scientific rigor with practical, scalable frameworks.
  • Build and maintain experimentation frameworks for model validation and lift measurement.
  • Define and implement validation and release criteria for attribution model and product launches, including data-quality checks, model benchmarking, and validation metrics.
  • Collaborate with Software Engineers and Product Managers to (respectively) productionize and productize your work.
  • Mentor Data Scientists on complex statistical and methodological challenges, including experiment design; raise the bar for individual execution via reviews and training.

What You Bring

  • 8+ years in data science or ML engineering roles.
  • PhD (or equivalent experience) in statistics, econometrics, machine learning, or a related quantitative field, with a strong foundation in causal inference, experimental design, and Bayesian modeling.
  • Proven experience applying statistical methods to marketing measurement, attribution modeling, and related incrementality/experiment design problems.
  • Experience in building or optimizing large-scale A/B testing or experimentation infrastructure.
  • Experience designing, deploying, and operating statistical/ML models that drive real business decisions at scale, including validation and monitoring.
  • Proficiency in Python/R/SQL and modern data platforms (BigQuery, Snowflake), familiarity with MLOps practices and data pipeline orchestration tools.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex statistical concepts to customers and internal stakeholders, translating technical nuance into business confidence.

Bonus Skills & Experience

  • Experience in enterprise Martech, AdTech, B2B SaaS, or adjacent industries dealing with complex attribution challenges.
  • Experience with identity resolution across web, mobile, and offline channels.
  • Background with graph neural networks, deep learning applications.

Base Salary Range

$230,000 - $250,000 USD

Actual compensation may vary based on experience, skills, and location.

We accept applications on an ongoing basis.

We’re experiencing rapid growth and strong product-market fit, and we’re looking for the right people to help us scale. This is a rare chance to make a meaningful impact at a fast-moving, high-growth company. At Northbeam, you’ll join a team of driven, collaborative, and talented individuals who value personal growth and excellence. We’d love for you to be part of our journey.

In addition to your base salary, we offer an equity package, comprehensive healthcare benefits (medical, dental, and vision), and a 401(k) plan. Our team enjoys a flexible PTO policy, 12 company-paid holidays, and 12 weeks of paid parental leave. We also provide a $500 work-from-home stipend to support your remote setup.

If you believe you belong to any of the categories of protected veterans listed below, please indicate by making the appropriate selection. As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
