Our Kenya program, founded in 2006, operates under the local brand Tupande. Close to 500 staff in our Kakamega headquarters support 1,747 field staff and serve more than 1 million farmers. In Nairobi, around 50 staff support global functions like procurement, recruitment, government relations, and communications.
About the Role
Be responsible for the setup and efficient day-to-day operation of all machinery in the facility to produce high-quality dried fruit, and monitoring of maintenance at the facility.
Responsibilities
Dryer Operations & Monitoring
- Manage dryers during day/night shifts, monitor dryer parameters, and maintain dryer logs.
- Report any dryer malfunctions, and lead in troubleshooting
- Report and keep track of power outages or interruptions during dryer operations and ensure clear handover logs/reports after each shift.
Pallet trolleys operation
- Support pallet trolley operation when moving fruits for processing..
Maintenance & Quality Control
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of all machines (ensure records are up to date) to ensure smooth operation and prevent breakdowns.
- Monitor the quality of dried fruit and adjust machines as needed to maintain product standards.
- Manage all maintenance works within the factory.
Troubleshooting & Safety Compliance
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical or process issues during production.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and report hazards or incidents immediately.
Record Keeping & Team Management/Collaboration
- Maintain accurate records of production data, machine performance, and maintenance activities.
- Work closely with supervisors and quality control personnel to achieve production targets and maintain product quality.
- Train and manage machine operators
Work Commitment & Continuous Improvement
- Suggest and implement improvements to enhance production efficiency and effectiveness.
Water and Electricity Tracking
- Track all water and electricity used in the factory and ensure efficient functionality of all utilities.

Qualifications
Across all roles, these are the general qualifications we look for. For this role specifically, you will have:
- Minimum academic Qualification: Diploma/Certificate in Electrical, Mechanical, or Training in vocational machinery operation.
- Work Experience: 1+ years of working experience in food processing and handling machinery
- Knowledge and experience in the Food Safety Management System, Environmental, and Occupational Health and Safety in the workplace.
- Attention to detail: Ensures all your tasks are completed to the processing needs.
- Problem-solving: Establish root cause and find solutions to meet the required maintenance target.
- Analytical skills: Have the ability to identify a problem, investigate to find out relevant facts, and find a logical solution.
- Written and verbal communication: Strong verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team: Teamwork with the warehouse and production team.
- Time management: Ensures you have adequate time to complete your tasks to the desired operation.
