What you'll be doing:
We are hiring a Data Analytics Engineer to support the VA RISE program, a federal initiative focused on improving how the Department of Veterans Affairs collects, integrates, and leverages data to better serve veterans. In this role, you’ll work closely with analysts, engineers, architects, product owners, and federal stakeholders to extract insights from complex data sets, build data pipelines, and support scalable reporting systems. You’ll work across both structured and semi-structured data to help transform and improve outcomes for veterans through data-driven decision-making.
What you’ll bring:
- 3–5 years of experience in an data analytics or data engineering role, with strong background working in large, regulated environments
- Expertise in SQL (PostgreSQL, T-SQL, or equivalent) for complex data manipulation, wrangling and pipeline development
- Proficiency in Python for scripting, automation and data transformations (e.g., Pandas, NumPy)
- Experience designing and building ETL/ELT pipelines, with hands-on skills in modern data platforms like Databricks and Synapse
- A solid understanding of relational database systems, including data modeling, schema design and optimization
- Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions and build insightful dashboards and visualizations using tools like Power BI, Tableau or Looker
- Experience working in Agile environments, collaborating with product and engineering teams
Nice to haves:
- Familiarity with data governance frameworks and working with protected data (e.g., HIPAA, PII/PHI)
- Exposure to cloud data tools (e.g., AWS Redshift, S3, or Azure Data Lake)
- Experience using Jira, Confluence, Git, or other collaboration tools in Agile delivery
- Prior work supporting VA data modernization, CDW, or the Data-as-a-Service (DaaS) efforts
Requirements:
- Must be a US Citizen and able to work domestically
- Must be able to attain low-level security clearance

Compensation:
At Oddball, it’s important each employee is compensated competitively and fairly. In alignment with state legal requirements. A range for the included position is listed below. Be advised, actual offer details are determined by job category, job location, and candidate skill level.
United States Wage Range: $110,000 – $150,000
