Advanced NX CAD/CAE Specialist
Thanks for your interest in Oklo! We are searching for an Advanced NX CAD/CAE Specialist to join our team.
Position Description
We are seeking an Advanced NX CAD/CAE Specialist with deep expertise in Siemens NX to serve as a technical toolsmith and key support resource for our engineering teams. This role supports engineers in creating and managing large-scale assemblies, maintaining modeling standards, and leveraging advanced NX tools (WAVE linker, interpart linking, configurations) to optimize workflows and productivity.
Knowledge of Teamcenter integration is essential, as you will help align CAD and PLM processes, ensure data integrity, and support change management across engineering and manufacturing. This position is highly collaborative, working across analysis, manufacturing, IT, and quality teams to maintain seamless CAD/CAE integration, resolve modeling or performance issues, and provide training and best practices.
Specific responsibilities may include:
- System Administration: Install, configure, and maintain Siemens NX CAD within Teamcenter PLM on secure AWS GovCloud with VDI access. Manage upgrades, patches, licensing, and backend stability.
- User Support & Training: Serve as the go-to NX expert, providing technical assistance, troubleshooting, and leading training sessions on advanced CAD practices and best practices.
- Customization & Process Optimization: Develop NX workflows, automation scripts, templates, and modeling standards to improve efficiency, productivity, and data quality; maintain clear documentation of processes and configurations.
- Data & Configuration Management: Ensure CAD/PLM data integrity, security, and backups; oversee BOMs, product configurations, and engineering change workflows for full traceability.
- Advanced NX Expertise: Apply WAVE geometry linker, interpart linking, Part Families, and PMI to streamline design work, enforce standards, and support team collaboration.
- Large Assembly Management: Create and maintain complex assemblies that are stable, efficient, and accurate.
- Technical Drawings & Standards: Produce high-quality 2D drawings using ASME Y14.5 GD&T; integrate PMI into 3D models to deliver complete technical data packages for manufacturing and inspection. Provide feedback to engineers where designs must be adapted for manufacturability and assembly.
- CAE Integration: Prepare NX models for thermal, structural, and multiphysics analyses by simplifying geometry, ensuring mesh-ready designs, and enabling smooth CAE handoff.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with IT, QA, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to align CAD/CAE strategies with business objectives and design-for-manufacturability principles.
- Problem Solving & Mentorship: Diagnose performance issues and modeling challenges; mentor engineers and share best practices across the organization.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 6+ years of experience as a CAD/PLM administrator with Siemens NX and Teamcenter.
- Expert-level proficiency in Siemens NX (3D modeling, drawings, and large assembly management).
- Demonstrated expertise in ASME Y14.5 GD&T and Product Manufacturing Information (PMI).
- Hands-on experience managing complex engineering data and workflows in Teamcenter PLM (BOMs, ECNs, release processes).
- Familiarity with integration of CAD/PLM into ERP/MES systems.
- Experience with CAD data migration and system transition planning.
- Strong problem-solving ability and ability to troubleshoot CAD performance issues.
- Familiarity with AWS GovCloud, VDI environments, and cloud-based CAD/PLM deployment.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills across engineering, manufacturing, IT, and QA teams.
- Certifications in AWS and/or Siemens NX/Teamcenter Administration are a plus.
Bonus Qualifications:
- Experience with GitLab CI/CD pipelines or similar continuous integration tools.
- Familiarity with FEA and simulation workflows (e.g., NASTRAN, NX Advanced Simulation).
- Programming and automation experience with scripting languages (Python, NX Open API).
- Knowledge of Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles.
Who you are:
A startup person: You aren't driven by titles or hierarchy, and prefer efficiency to excess process. You don't need or expect to have a lot of guidance but you enjoy working in a fast-paced team. If you prefer the culture and feel of a large organization, that is great, but you likely won’t enjoy working with us! There is plenty of important work and plenty of good opportunities with organizations like that.
Motivated: You are self-motivated. You bring an enthusiasm to the team, and imbue a sense of passion that goes beyond clocking in and clocking out. This isn’t about a fake or arbitrary “pieces of flair” mentality or lack of work-life balance! It is about being a part of the vision and feeling a part of reaching team goals.
A team-player: Oklo genuinely is a team. We aren’t about taking credit for ourselves, and we aren’t about pushing blame to others. We do incredible things because we work as a team.
An excellent communicator: We need a person who is not only technically competent but also a clear and upbeat communicator.
Creative: Being creative means that when things fall outside clear scopes or processes or problems arise without clear solutions, you are able to identify it as well as invent ways to solve a problem or fill a need without micromanagement. The successful person in this job will not only be creative, but also enjoy being creative and solving open-ended problems which may change day-by-day.
Detail-oriented: This focus is a big part of excellence, consistency, and quality. Excellent grammar and spelling matter for both good communication as well as the image of the company that we put forward.
