About the Role >>> Senior Manager, Facilities and Laboratory Operations
As the Senior Manager of Facilities and Lab Operations reporting to the VP of IT and Facilities, you will oversee the day-to-day functions across three Olema facilities, including research labs and office environments. This role involves supporting strategic and tactical activities, ensuring seamless operations, and driving customer service excellence. You will support strategic initiatives, manage projects, and partner with various stakeholders to enhance facility operations. The ideal candidate is a solutions-oriented professional with a meticulous eye for detail and thrives in a fast-paced, problem-solving environment.

This role is based in our San Francisco office and will require 10% travel.
Your work will primarily encompass:
Facilities Management
- Ensure all three facilities (two in San Francisco and one in Cambridge) are fully operational with all utilities functioning properly
- Develop, recommend, and implement processes, policies, and procedures, including SOPs to optimize facility functions
- Collaborate with building management, owners, EHS, design and safety consultants, and vendors to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
- Oversee and execute routine maintenance, space upkeep, emergency repairs, furnishings, moving/storage, capital improvement needs, facility design, and construction
- Manage all aspect of the physical security of the buildings including; vendor management, badge management, alarm systems and door access
- Work collaboratively with leadership and key stakeholders to determine innovative near-term and long-term space needs, including planning and design
- Identify and manage contractors, including service technicians and tradesmen, to repair and maintain facilities
- Establish appropriate facilities budget projections and effectively manage resources and costs
- Manage and direct emergency planning and response activities across Olema’s locations
- Manage all aspects of shipping and receiving including: Hazardous Materials and/or Dangerous Goods
Laboratory Operations
- Support the Research team with all infrastructure needs, including vendor relationships and management, service and maintenance of scientific equipment, autoclave and glass wash, hazardous waste management, and cell culture support
- Monitor critical systems and provide 24-hour on-call support in case of system failure
- Develop and maintain awareness of health and safety issues within the company, ensure compliance with company policies through appropriate training of employees, and manage safety consultants effectively
- Manage and Maintain Cryo storage, liquid nitrogen, compressed gas system, emergency generator system, vacuum and compressed air systems
- Manage critical laboratory systems, including but not limited to HVAC, monitoring, systems and equipment maintenance, to ensure uninterrupted functionality and optimal performance
- Oversee all aspects of shipping and receiving operations, including inventory management, packaging, and transportation logistics, to facilitate efficient and timely movement of goods
- Ensure comprehensive compliance with Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) regulations and protocols including; hazardous waste permits, conducting regular inspections, implementing safety procedures, and providing training to staff members to maintain a safe and healthy work environment

Knowledge:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Strategic Facilities Manager (SFM) and Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certifications required
- Proven track record of successful facilities leadership experience
- Experience in the biotech/life sciences sector is required
Experience:
- 8+ years of experience with a minimum of 5 years of facilities management experience, including oversight of lab environments
- Created and ran an EHS program for a BSL2 Lab a must have
- Strong project management, planning, organization, and time management skills
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail, clarity, and accuracy

The base pay range for this position is expected to be $160,000 - $180,000 annually, however the base pay offered may vary depending on location, market, job related knowledge, skills and capabilities, and experience. The total compensation package for this position also includes equity, bonus, and benefits.
