Role:  Social Media Manager (Newsroom Lead)

Location:  Manila, Philippines

About the role:

We are looking for a culture-obsessed Social Media Manager to lead the social newsroom for Opella ASEA Wonka.

This role is for someone who genuinely lives online. You are deeply immersed in TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, memes, creators, and internet culture. You instinctively spot trends early and know how to turn them into brand-relevant content quickly.

You are both a strategist and a maker: equally comfortable identifying insights, crafting ideas, writing captions, shooting TikToks, editing in CapCut, briefing designers, and publishing reactive content at speed.

You should thrive in a fast-moving, idea-led environment and enjoy creating social-first content that helps brands participate in culture.

What you will be doing:

Lead the social newsroom:

  • Drive real-time social listening across Opella brands
  • Spot emerging trends, conversations, and audience insights to identify reactive content opportunities
  • Lead moment marketing and cultural/reactive activations across platforms

Create and publish social-first content:

  • Conceptualise, create, and publish organic content across TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook with a strong understanding of platform-native behaviour and trends
  • Produce hands-on content including short-form videos, memes, static assets, captions, community commentary, and reactive social posts
  • Shoot and appear in mobile-first content using tools such as CapCut and other creator platforms
  • Collaborate closely with designers, creators, and internal teams to rapidly develop and deploy content at speed
  • Adapt and repurpose content into multiple formats optimized for each platform and audience behaviour

Grow and engage communities:

  • Build culturally relevant brand presence and drive follower growth, reach, and engagement
  • Manage community interactions and online brand presence
  • Identify and collaborate with UGC creators and influencers to amplify organic relevance

What you need to be great in this role:

  • 5–7 years of experience in social media, digital, or agency roles managing brand social channels
  • Strong understanding of TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, creators, and internet culture
  • Proven ability to turn trends into fast, brand-appropriate content
  • Hands-on content creator with experience shooting/editing short-form content and writing social copy
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced reactive content environment
  • Strong social listening, trend analysis, and storytelling instincts
  • Experience managing multiple brands and stakeholders simultaneously
  • Curious about AI and emerging technologies, with a willingness to experiment and learn quickly
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Nice to have:

  • FMCG or consumer healthcare experience
  • Experience working with creators, influencers, or online communities
  • Familiarity with social listening and analytics tools

You’ll thrive in this role if you:

  • Naturally think in trends, formats, memes, and conversations
  • Enjoy making content, not just managing calendars
  • Can move from insight to execution within hours, not days
  • Understand the difference between posting content and participating in culture
