THE ROLE: SR ASSOCIATE CATEGORY DEVELOPMENT MANAGER + ANALYST

Reporting to the Senior Manager of Sam’s Club and BJs, with a dotted line to the Category Strategy Senior Director, this person will serve as a key member of our team and will be an important asset to our continued growth. The WC operating companies include SmartyPantsOnnit, Welly, and OLLY. This position will play a key role in Club Strategy category management and analytics by conducting high quality analysis,proactively identifying trends, and synthesizing multiple data sources to derive clear recommendations for category and brand growth. Insight into action is imperative. This role requires experience, independence, and the ability to actively identify opportunities through storytelling, analytics and insights.  

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES  

  • Serve as a Vitamin category and club retailer strategy expert by utilizing multiple data sources to provide tools, stories, and recommendations to accelerate growth of the VMS category including assortment, shelving, new product launch performance, and competitive study 
  • Leverage data and insights to drive action and growth by partnering through key initiatives that align retailer strategies with brand priorities 
  • Lead weekly Sam’s Club reporting on POS sales, shipments, and updates to sales forecast 
  • Support forecasting and trade management in our internal planning tool (MODUS) 
  • Proactively provide consumer/category insights with an entrepreneurial spirit to grow the Club businesses 
  • Support Sales in building selling decks and all necessary materials for customer meetings as well as internal planning sessions and share-outs 
  • Support ad hoc requests in support of the Club businesses 
  • Monitor competitive brands and products, as well as market share, to understand shopper and category trends 
  • Ability to receive and translate VMS Category Strategy tools and innovation materials into retailer-strategy aligned materials 
  • Prepare clear, concise, storytelling presentations based on analytics and insights in partnership with VMS Category Strategy and Field Sales Team 
  • Manage data insight tools, dashboards, and review materials 
  • Lead data source releases on club to internal partners

CAPABILITIES + SKILLS REQUIRED  

  • 2-5 years of experience in Category Management and Sales Analytics 
  • Ability to uncover data points and then change information into insights for actionable growth 
  • Category Management – developing recommendations from national Category Strategy and Brand recommendations that align with Club channel strategies including assortment, shelving, and overall trends 
  • Proven ability to analyze and identify opportunities for growth with key retailers and bring them to life 
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills   
  • Ability to give and receive constructive feedback 
  • Proficiency in utilizing databases, Microsoft Suite tools, and Power BI (IRI, Nielsen, Numerator) 
  • Highly organized, analytical, detail oriented and self-motivated 

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING THE INTERVIEW PROCESS

The base pay range for this position is $69,500.00 to $104,100.00. For this remote role, compensation is determined based on geographic location and experience, and the final offer will reflect these factors within the posted range.
