Job Description
Join Olsson’s South Facilities Engineering and Design team as a Senior Mechanical Design Technician, where you’ll help bring healthcare, data center, and commercial projects to life through high-performance HVAC and plumbing system designs. You’ll use your experience and technical skills to support the design and documentation of mechanical systems that meet code requirements, energy performance goals, and project-specific needs.
This role is ideal for an experienced designer who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about delivering well-coordinated, efficient mechanical systems
Primary Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed mechanical system layouts, plans, and sections using Revit or other design software.
- Collaborate with engineers to develop coordinated HVAC, plumbing, and specialty system designs.
- Ensure quality and accuracy of design drawings and construction documentation.
- Contribute to the development of standards and drafting best practices.
- Support multidisciplinary coordination, clash detection, and project delivery timelines.
- Mentor junior design staff and provide technical guidance as needed.
- Assist with documentation and submittal processes, including specifications and equipment schedules.
Qualifications

You bring to the team:
- Associate degree in Drafting, Design Technology, or a related field (preferred).
- 6+ years of mechanical drafting or design experience, preferably in building systems.
- Proficiency in Revit; experience with AutoCAD and other BIM tools is a plus.
- Strong understanding of HVAC and plumbing systems in commercial, healthcare, or mission-critical buildings.
- Detail-oriented with strong collaboration and communication skills.
- Ability to support field coordination and occasional site visits.
