Job Overview
The Senior Materials Planner is responsible for managing the supply of materials to ensure the smooth running of production operations for specific large key customers. He/she manages raw material inventories, providing least cost supply chain solutions while maximizing customer satisfaction. The Senior Materials Planner will drive improvement in service KPIs through the identification, creation, and alignment within the material planning span of control. They are critical to delivering supply chain productivity initiatives and service improvement through materials oversight, advanced analytics and strong project management principles.
This position reports to the Director of Global Materials in Plano, Texas with dotted line responsibility to the Materials Planning Manager in Matamoros and the role is located in the Matamoros, Tamaulipas Plant.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive supply chain productivity initiatives and service improvement through advanced analytics and project management principles.
- Accountable for managing the materials process for key customer specific projects, including identifying and addressing material planning gaps across the planning team.
- The Senior Materials Planner drives improvement in service KPIs through the identification, creation, and alignment to meet inventory, cost and service goals.
- Identified individual will manage material planning for selective vendors while also overseeing broader customer initiatives with cross-functional partners.
- Responsible for managing raw material inventories, from placing purchase orders with suppliers to the on-time delivery to the factory.
- Provide least cost supply chain solutions while maximizing customer satisfaction.
- The role balances manufacturing and distribution efficiencies with working capital constraints and customer service requirements.
- Maintain system information including ensuring Material Requirements Planning (MRP) is running correctly.
- Availability: Able to collaborate with global teams and management including night, early morning, or weekend meetings, as necessary.
- Performing any other reasonable duties as directed by management.

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management or related field.
- 7+ years of experience in Purchasing / Planning roles.
- Demonstrated project management experience.
- Detail oriented with demonstrated strong analytical skills.
- Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
Preferred Skills
- Experience using ERP systems and in particular Material Requirements Planning (MRP) tools.
- Able to manage multiple assignments, clear thinker in prioritization and decision making.
- Strong initiatives in identifying the problems and finding solutions.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills with cross-functional and regional teams.
- Self-starter who takes initiative, proactively follows up and with the ability to work with little supervision.
- Strong PC Skills required – especially on Excel and PowerPoint.
