Job Overview

OmniOn Power is seeking a Material & Environmental Compliance Manager to lead global efforts around product materials compliance and reporting.

This individual will manage requests across our business related to RoHS, REACH, Conflict Minerals, PFAS, and similar regulations, and will serve as the primary liaison between internal teams, third-party compliance service providers, and our customers. This role reports into the Quality organization and is well-suited for individuals with strong technical aptitude. It is a hands-on individual contributor role with global scope, influencing cross-functional teams and managing third-party services without direct reports. The role works directly with Safety Compliance engineering and must understand all aspects of Legal/Regulatory Material Compliance in shipping product to countries around the Globe. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, comfortable working with complex regulatory content, and confident collaborating across functional teams. This position reports to the Global Quality Leader and will be based in Plano, TX or Shanghai, China.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and manage product-level material compliance reporting, including requests for Full Material Declarations (FMDs), Certificates of Compliance (CoCs), and customer-specific documentation.
  • Serve as the point of contact between OmniOn and its third-party compliance service provider(s), ensuring accurate and timely data exchange.
  • Partner with Sourcing to engage suppliers and ensure the collection of required compliance documentation.
  • Oversee annual Conflict Minerals reporting and support other recurring or emerging reporting obligations (e.g., CMRT, PFAS, Prop 65, SCIP, REACH, TSCA, Halogen, Asbestos, Rare Earth Elements).
  • Stay informed on changes in global environmental regulations and communicate impacts to stakeholders.
  • Assess compliance risks and develop strategies to mitigate them
  • Maintain internal compliance tools and databases, including product and component-level documentation.
  • Preparation of full material compliance reports per customer requirements.
  • Support new product introduction (NPI) teams by guiding compliance documentation at hand-off.
  • Responsible for evaluating New Material & Process Technologies
  • Collaborate with Product Managers and Legal/Quality to ensure reporting obligations align with market access requirements and internal policies.
  • Organize and deliver compliance training programs for employees
  • Implement metrics and lead continuous improvement efforts
  • Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments
  • Ability to act as a change agent across cross functional organization (Design, Manufacturing, Sourcing, Supplier and Customer)
  • Other responsibilities as required by management
  • Travel to domestic and international sites (5%)
  • Performing any other reasonable duties as directed by line management.
  • Availability: Able to collaborate with global teams and management including night, early morning, or weekend meetings, as necessary.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (Electrical/Chemical, Environmental Studies, Engineering, Supply Chain, business, or related field)
  • 3+ years’ experience in Product Compliance, Materials Reporting, Regulatory Affairs, or Quality Operations
  • 3 + years' working knowledge of key regulations such as RoHS, China ROHS, REACH, WEEE, Conflict Minerals, Prop 65, PFAS, and SCIP.

 Desired Characteristics:

  • Familiarity with material declaration formats (e.g., IPC-1752A) and tools like Source Intelligence, UL GCM, or similar.
  • Strong coordination, organization, and communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, detail oriented, strong team player
  • Effective multi-tasking skills with ability to prioritize multiple assignments and provide Global Compliance Support
  • Country Trade Compliance & US Trade Compliance: TAA, HTS Codes
  • Comfortable working with Bills of Materials (BOMs), supplier documentation, and internal databases.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and collaboration platforms.
  • Ability to communicate fluently in English both oral and written.
  • Experience working with third-party compliance services or compliance automation tools.
  • Experience in supply chain or sourcing processes, especially with electronics or power conversion components.
  • Knowledge of PLM systems (e.g., Windchill), and component lifecycle tracking.
  • Previous experience in a regulated manufacturing environment (electronics, automotive, aerospace, etc.).
  • High energy individual who is goal oriented and results driven.
  • Experience with the following tools is helpful: Source Intelligence, UL GCM, IPC-1752A formats, Microsoft Excel, Windchill PLM
