With operations across six core countries in Africa, we make farmers more prosperous by providing quality farm supplies on credit, delivered within walking distance of farmers’ homes, and agricultural training to improve harvests. About the Role
As the Director of Global HR Shared Services at One Acre Fund, you will play a pivotal role in steering the organization's HR strategic direction and operational excellence.
Reporting to the People Lead and managing a team of 12, this senior leadership position is responsible for overseeing key HR functions such as driving organizational change, enhancing operational efficiency, and ensuring the highest standards of HR services across our global operations.
This leadership role offers the opportunity to shape the future of HR at One Acre Fund, playing a critical role in our mission to serve smallholder farmers across the globe. The position provides significant scope for professional growth and impact.
Responsibilities
- Operational Management: Oversee critical HR operations including payroll, compensation and benefit, benefits administration, and staff enquiries, ensuring efficient and effective delivery of services.
- Process Innovation: Continuously assess and improve HR processes and systems for greater efficiency, effectiveness, people-centric experience and alignment with organizational goals.
- Risk and Compliance: Ensure all employment practices adhere to local labor laws and regulations in each country of operation across Sub-Saharan Africa.
- Change Management: Champion and manage growth and change across the organization, guiding the HR team and broader organization through transformation and new initiatives.
- Team Development: Lead, mentor and build the capacity of the global HR Shared Services team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning. Manage departmental goals to achieve organizational goals.
- HR Advisory: Provide guidance to managers, in-country HR departments, and company leaders on performance management and executive decisions.
- Health, Safety & Security: Oversee compliance to occupational safety and health regulations across Sub-Saharan Africa, manage emergency response protocol and provide guidance in the event of unforeseen crises to protect the wellbeing of our People.
- DEI: Ensure HR policies, procedures and work culture align with our diversity, equity, and inclusion commitments.

Qualifications
Across all roles, these are the general qualifications we look for. For this role specifically, you will have:
- 8-10+ years of progressive HR experience, with significant leadership experience in a global or multi-country context.
- Excellent knowledge of HR processes, labor law, and performance management. Knowledge of international payroll operations preferable.
- Experience with HR information and back office systems.
- Proven ability in strategic planning and execution within HR functions.
- Adept project management skills, building shared purpose and stakeholder collaboration.
- Strong experience in leading diverse teams and managing complex HR operations in a virtual environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or equivalent HR certification.
- Proficiency in English is essential. Additional relevant language proficiency is valued.
